Next on the list with a 180* stat.

Quick question though, seen a few videos of the fan removal and all seem to be counterclockwise to remove. If that's the case they are not left handed threads. Just clarifying before I dive in. Mine is a 2010 and in sure it's on there good and don't want it be trying to remove it going the wrong direction only to find I've tightened it more.

They are left handed threads. I did this mod last weekend on my 13 and the fan was barely finger tight. I rented both the fan holder and the big wrenches and didn't need either. Tried to figure the holder out but I think I got the wrong one so I just stuck a screw driver in a hole on the pulley and honestly the weight of the big Cresent wrench broke it loose and it spun right off. Not even any wd40

Ok so if they are left handed threads, clockwise to remove?

Ok thanks! Like I said every video I've see of fan removal from a Hemi has shown them spinning it counterclockwise to remove when facing the front of the engine.

52014772AD is the OEM fan part number if you want to go that route.

2013 and up I believe

Has anybody towed with this setup? I have a 30 foot travel trailer so I want to make sure it doesn't overheat or allow the transmission get too hot.

Been towing my Corvette with it and had zero issues. About 7,000lb worth of trailer, car, tools, etc.

Well after I got home I found out the root cause of my high temps.

I thought I had purchased the pre-mixed 50/50 coolant, but after further review, I grabbed the wrong jug. :doh2:

I put in almost a gallon of full strength anti-freeze & this didn't provide enough water to actually cool the engine when not moving.

So....I drained some off & added the water & now my temp only fluctuates between 178-185.

I like the Mod & think it will add to the reliability of the motor & also provide a small amount of power increase.

What I don't like is, I get a good amount of vibration that I can feel in the Steering wheel, Seat, Shift knob...etc. when the fan is running & I am sitting at a light.

I am going to try some rubber bushings or spacers on the fan attachment points to see if that will eliminate it.

Did that help with vibration I think I am just going to pull out and put in an OEM electric fan.

I just did this mod and I don't like the vibration of the TYC. I found a smoking good deal on Dorman one which looks a lot like the OEM one and has lifetime warranty. I ordered and will swap to that one and see if I like it better. The TYC must not have very good balancing.

Just have a question. I have not looked yet but does anyone know if you can get the stock clutch fan out without removing the shroud? Wondering if I could do this tonight or whether I should wait till the weekend. Also do the 2016 still need the shroud once clutch fan is gone?

Yea, I went to autozone and got a wrench that's made for clutch fans and with a breaker bar attached to it, I couldn't get that thing to break loose. I didn't ask what the tech used at the dealer but he even said it was on there, lol.

You do know a fan clutch is reverse thread right? Its lefty tighty righty loosey ..
Just checking..... Some of them fans can be a ***** to remove though...... worst one to this day was one I took of a E-350 with a 7.3L we made our own when we broke the tool made for it from snap-on.... 6' 3/16 flat stock it what it took. I figured we'd break the water pump fan came loose.

Thanks for the write-up
Once I get my truck back from the dealer I will be removing mine.

Couple questions...Found this thread while searching for a tutorial on this install...

I ordered the TYC 622320 from Amazon for $90. I have read about the vibrations from some and am curious if that happens to 100% of everyone who install this brand or just some. Also has anyone had success with using rubber bushings or something else to eliminate the vibrations?

Also should I just order the 180 thermostat as recommended in the first post? I have the Diablo Trinity tuner and so far in looking around in the menu I have not seen where to adjust fan settings.
