So the last image on this thread, is just a small white dot. There were about 67 or so that we counted. It's just trash in the paint, or bubbles in the clear, not sure which.

Yeah that’s a sucky paint job. Aside from the dirt in the paint it might be able to be buffed out, idk. I spent a lot of hours buffing my bed after it was painted, but I expected it with the low price I payed to have it sprayed. In your case that’s on them

That’s hideous. It is true that there is some orange peel on pretty much every factory paint job now a days, but nowhere near as bad as in those pics. Not to mention the other issues. I didn’t even know what I was looking at for a second. Did they outsource this one to Maaco for their cheap n quick special.

Some of it can be.

No, this is a progressive approved body shop. Even the progressive guy was like, my god. Though, I can outline each photo in order, I didn't even think some of you woudln't be able to know what it was, I did... but I took them lol. I've outlined them in the order you see them below.

  1. This is peeling paint above the rocker panel, below the door ( where it closes )- Take note of the extreme orange peel above it though, this is the door.
  2. This is me peeling back paint, showing more paint under it. It wasn't even sanded, or prepped, it's just paint on paint. They swear they did not do this and the truck was painted previously.
  3. This image shows the extreme orange peel on the bottom of the door, and the scuffs you see in the door, it's in the crease right in the middle of the door. This is below the clear coat, you can see a small amount of it below the crease too, on the bottom section ( above my belly ) All of those white specs you see up top, is not dirt, or anything like that. That's trash BELOW the clear coat.
  4. this image shows more scuffing in the crease of the door ( different door ). Again, you can see the extreme orange peel, and the scuffs are below the clear.
  5. This is a repeat of number 6 ( sorry ). This is the pillar to the LEFT of the windshield ( the other one like it is of the right ). You can see towards the bottom of the image, it's semi glossy, and shiny ( though, lots of orange peel ), the roughness is like sandpaper, it's EXTREME orange-peel,but mixed with raised up paint. The colors you see * red, black, etc * is a reflection in the paint, those are cars on the lot ( I was at the dealership )
  6. Same as 5 ( oops )
  7. This is a different angle of picture 5
  8. This shows paint peeling back around a white dot. That's all under the clear, their were about 65 or so of these around the truck.
This was at a reputable shop, i'm supposed to pick up the truck today. When I do, I'll post the shop name for anyone in central / south Texas to NOT ever use them. They are extremely unprofessional. The only reason I even know the car is their is because I wanted to keep an eye on the progress as things were being done. They took off all my badges, and didn't even put them on. Told me that was my job. They did not remove trim, and then they blamed my year old truck on already having a paint job, which to them, was bad. I never painted the truck, and the dealer I purchased it from says they are out of their minds.

Keep in mind, these images I posted were just ones I took quickly. This is a SMALL portion of the fail. Those scuffs are ALL over the truck. The hood was covers with scratches, bad ones. the doors were almost like they looked like they were melting, the paint was dripping, scuffed, and the orange peel just made it look worse. It was a really bad job. I'm going today, so I'll take a bunch more pics and post to the thread.

Anyhoo, hope that makes seeing the images a little easier! Sorry about that overlook!

I was excited to see that this thread was updated yesterday and popped up on the new posts list... And then I saw those pictures. WOW! What a load of **** they are putting you through. I have never see a paint job so bad. (coming from a, "reputable" shop anyways) That is embarrassing.

Paint problems aside, they really told you that putting the emblems back was your job? What kind of a body shop says that? In the quote I am sure it says R&R on the emblems. (removal and re-installation for those of you that don't do a lot of work with bodyshops)

Glad you have a good insurance agent that understands how pathetic of an attempt at a paint job that is.

If your truck still isn’t up to your satisfaction then I would put that company on blast, all over the web. Nowadays bad reviews can bankrupt a company. ****, I’d do it anyway because of all the lazy issues that didn’t need to happen.

Ps. Really hope they get it right this time for you, I know it sux without a truck.

That's happening regardless, I just want my truck back before I do haha. I'm actually about to leave to go pick up the truck. I have every intention of telling them they can keep it, again, if it's not ready. I'll post the update and pics ( along with the name of the company ) if I pick it up! I still have quite a bit to review. I haven't looked under it to see if they cleared up the mud, and they told me my train horns still work, but I find that hard to believe!

I think I could’ve done a better job painting your truck outdoors in a dirt field during a windstorm.

Holy crap, that body shop needs to shut its doors

Unbelievable, I wouldn't show up without a representative from your insurance company. Leave it and don't sign your name to anything. I would also be asking the ins company to replace the truck. No way the body shop repaired or cleaned the truck properly.

Just read through this post and I cannot believe the crappy work done on your truck and all the hoops you’ve had to jump through. I hope you get this resolved to your satisfaction.......and soon.

Did you talk to an insurance lawyer? I would have done that the first time they said they weren't going to total it.

Sorry to read about all of this. Progressive is usually a decent company, its not like they are low dollar rates, with 6 month policies, they are usually up their if competitive. I know you have gotten a lot of advice, but a simple tool insurance adjusters use is called the principle of indemnification. Look up the definition if youd like, but it means in the event of a loss they are to leave you as you were before the loss, no more no less. Which goes both ways. If they can fix it for less than the value of the vehicle, they arent going to total it. If they do total it, they will assign the depreciated value, to which you can somewhat discuss and haggle, but that is what it will be unless upon binding, you signed an agreed value to the vehicle which would give you the full amount if it was deemed totaled. This is usually for high end cars, or antiques. The other way this goes, is the no less part. Your vehicle did not have paint peeling, and issues all around BEFORE the loss, which also means you should be made whole, not just partly satisfied, even if the loss was 'your' fault. But that is what comprehensive insurance is for. As I am sure you have done, keep talking to your adjuster, keep documenting, and fight for righting this. I do not think you will be able to argue getting it totaled now as repairs and such have been done or started, but at the very least you can make it right. Its all case by case, so I cannot give you a definitive answer on how this will turn out, but you are entitled to your right to fight for this. I would not deal with the dealer yourself anymore if it were me, you arent the one paying them, the insurance company is. So what you say to them and what they say to you is obsolete. It is the communication between them two that is key. I hope you get this all sorted out and hope I helped a little!
