Any knowledgeable battery people out there? I need a new battery for my truck....

I have a lot invested in high end lighting (just over $2,500) and, since the lights draw power right off the battery, I want something quality. Thank for the input.

I went with an Autocraft Platinum AGM from Advance Auto 2 years ago. Listed for $200 but got it for $150 by using one of their 25% off online coupons and a "buy online-pickup in store" order.

I just checked their web site and they appear to have changed brands. Instead of their Autocraft house brand they now have Diehard Platinum AGM. However the specs appear identical.

I didn’t see this post. I just posted about the same thing. My battery just took a crap also. So I’m in the market for a new battery as well. Looking for pro/cons and recommendations.

There are not many battery makers any more. Johnson Controls make a heck of a lot of the batteries, just brand em different. I cannot remember the other makers, besides maybe Interstate and the ole Sears Die hard, but do not know who makes them. Definitely go AGM, and make sure the listed CCA is the minimum your truck needs. I put Duralast Gold in wife's 2010 5.4 Triton and had no problems,. But U gonna get a lot of varied opinions on Batteries Like Oil, Air and Oil Filters.

The most important would make sure the battery meets at least the minimum specs on your year Hemi: Specifically type and CCA. But I's just a Boird, also known as a Consumer, not a mechanic, all IMHO.....

you got good cold crank amps with your choice at 850. The hemi requires that even in warm state. Sadly last I checked Optima didnt make one for the 1500 rams. You may opt for a HD alternator and do the triple thingy, increase wire gauge in 3 areas. I have to call the expert on this, he just did his last week... calling @Hemi395 aka Corey.

The factory battery for the Hemi is 730 CCA(regular flooded lead acid battery), even the EcoDiesel rolls off the assembly line with only a 800 CCA (AGM) battery, not sure where you came up with the Hemi requiring an 850 CCA.

Ive had a Duralast Platinum AGM in my truck since 2017 and it's still going strong. I think that's the exact battery I have.

But like @Burla said if you have high power demands that are going to be used while running the truck, you're better off getting a high output alternator and doing the big 3.

If you're looking for capacity while the truck is off, might want to look into a dual battery setup...

Some folks hate the hell out of there dealership. I gotta admit. I have a damn good relationship with my dealership and service dept. Just took my truck in, tuner, modified PCM, pedal commander and everything still hooked up. They replaced my battery under warranty. Can’t beat free for another OEM battery.

Did you buy the big 3 local or online? Do you have any links, thanks Corey

I got mine from here:

https://js-alternators.com/product/...500-pickup-250-320-370-390-410amp-alternator/

It's the 250amp version which is more than enough for what I need. I emailed back a forth with the owner of the company and they use premium bearings as well as 6 phase hairpins. Given a oem Mopar unit is close to $300 and only 180amps, the 250amp unit from them is a great deal. The big 3 kit is $89 extra and for what you get it's a steal.

I can have every electrical accessory on at idle and turn the steering wheel which creates a large draw for the electric steering and the voltage barely fluctuates. Before it would dim the headlights.
