I suppose this was bound to happen eventually.

So I went to Ottawa for Blues Fest this year and figured I'd park the truck and enjoy some drinks. Underground seems more safe than on the road so that's what I did. Yesterday morning when I checked out of the hotel this is what I found.

****** part is they missed the first throw and hit the frame of the door. If it had of just been the glass I could of picked up a new window and replaced it myself. Now it has to go through insurance.

P.s they stole one of the 3 bags full of climbing gear from the back seat worth approx $1600. Pretty good score considering the alarm didn't even go off.

That blows man..There isn't anything worse in the world than a thief. Its sad that you can't even enjoy doing anything anymore for fear of someone trying to damage or steal somthing that doesn't belong to them.Thats 1 reason I don't bring my Handgun with me in the truck anymore when I go to work because it sits in a parking lot for 2 weeks.
Good luck with the repairs man and hopefully Karma gets them sooner than later!

Cant stand thieves or liers!
Bummer that you have body damage and insurance to deal with. Will insurance cover any of the contents?

The crappy thing is that nowadays you cant leave anything in your car at all or the scumbags will do this crap.

The contents would be covered on my homeowners insurance but it's a $1000 deductible on top of the $500 I already have to pay for the auto insurance.

Still though, I'm not letting it get me down. It's the cost of owning pretty things, they make for big targets. We planned on doing some climbing and that's exactly what were gonna do. I'll head home tomorrow and get it sorted out then. Also still have a garage full of goodies to install whenever I get it back from the shop (catch can, HBS level in kit, and HID for my fogs) So life is still good lol

Damn sorry about that, I know how bad that sucks! I had my slider window broke out in my 2011, they stole a few things but worse than that you feel personally violated, I hate thieves!

Because pretty vehicles make good targets lol. Mine was the only one in the parking garage that was hit.

Smash and grab is pretty typical. That seriously sucks, hopefully insurance is taking care of it. Tint those windows, or get a tonneau cover and hide your stuff.

I feel your pain. I went round and round with the dealership trying to get an explanation on what makes the alarm go off. I too, had my drivers side window busted out, in my driveway, and the alarm never went off. Nobody could give me an answer.

That is ridiculous. Thankfully I have never had this happen, but I always expect to see this whenever I walk out to my car.

I'm pretty sure these, like most, trucks do not have glass breakage senors in them. Most thiefs know this and simply do not open the door. I bet that's what they did and that's why the alarm never went off

this is why i avoid cities. parking garages seem to be especially bad for break ins for some reason

So my question is has anyone added a glass sensor to the factory alarm? I know Viper sells them.

I feel your pain man. I had two sets of Hella 500s stolen off my two vehicles parked one in front of the other on the street in front of my old house one night. One pair of the 98 Ram and one pair off my Jeep. When I replaced them I ponied up for the light lock things they sell.

That sucks. Sorry to hear that. I'm sure a few of us have been there, and know how it feels.

why did your alarm not go off? that is the worst part about it for me, besides the climbing gear.

That is totally awful!!! Thats why I hate owning stuff nice, there is always some empty headed nothing out there looking to do this type of thing. I have always said I would love to catch someone doing this kind of thing.. even if it wasn't my property.
It does ruin a day, fun at Bluesfest and end it with that.

Ya that's the first thing I thought too. I used to work at a body shop so any time there's paint or dent repair involved the price adds up quick. I'm gonna visit the dealership and see if they have a window alarm package available. My first insurance claim and it wasn't even an accident lol. At least my rates aren't going up...this time.

The alarm didn't go off because it's a joke. They can break the window reach in unlock it and open with outside handle and the alarm never goes off. Only way it goes off if there inside it and use the inside handle to open door.My Chevy was the same way . Useless!
