VIN is mainly useful to get software/firmware updates as they come out.

If you punch in the supposed VIN at the uConnect sw update site, it should confirm the basic radio(ie 8.4a or 8.4AN) and the year/model of truck it came from ...

The horn with lock setting is in the radio in the RA2 as well. It should show in your settings menu on your 8.4 as well. I lost my option to turn my turn by turn on and off after my update. Sometimes we do lose the ability to turn certain functions on an off but I haven't heard of losing the horn with lock function. You probably already have checked this but I would go through all your settings to see if somehow it got moved. Also in some cases people have had features return after a few on off cycles.

I've checked everything, the setting is just not there. I've had the RA3 in my truck for probably 5 months now and I've looked several times. I've read sometimes that some of those options are in the Evic in the cluster. Hoping that when I do my premium cluster upgrade the setting might be there but if not oh well.

It was in my RA2 5.0 before I swapped to the RA3 8.4 I guess I'll see if I get it back when I do the cluster upgrade but who knows. It's weird it retained all other settings in the swap but that one. My RA3 came out of a 14 2500 so I'm not sure if maybe some of the settings were different on it or what.

Is an RA4 8.4 CA, tomorrow I'll have the RA4 8.4NA , I'll see if it changes then ...

Yea it's weird in my 15 my cluster doesn't even have a settings tab. It's just the speedo, trips, fuel, and screen setup but no settings

Looks like 16.09.09 is the latest official fw for 2016 Vp4-NA RA4 radios.

Yes sorry the button combination you gave me actually did nothing on my radio except change the HVAC. I think I found what your were wanting actually from the settings app.
As far as the backup camera issue, I'm debating cancelling the dealership appointment since I applied an update over the weekend the problem has not rose again.

Mike you may have this info already , but here is my current radio ( from RicksRam ) installed in my 2014 Ram Express , original RA1 .
EVERYTHING WORKS GREAT WITH THIS FIRMWARE VERSION !

16.13.13 is working really well on my 14. I can now hit my phone button on the wheel and say "send message" and it works! Whereas before I could not.

One other thing I noticed about 16.13.13 is that my radio no longer has that dumb uConnect ringtone. It will now play the ringtone of my phone through the trucks speakers.

Okay my 16 RA 4 works great in my 14 Ram. I installed the factory Media Hub with the SD slot when I had my 14 RA 4 and it worked great. When I installed the 16 all of the media ports loaded exept the SD port. I realy like using the SD slot It's small has enty of room for tons of songs and is out of the way plus it leaves the USB port open for charging my phone. I sent the radio to Navrepair to have the SD slot activated. They emailed me after they received the radio saying they could not enable the ports because it was a 16. The 16 radio has a different file system and has to read the vehicle. I kinda wish they would have mentioned that on there website before I spent the money on shipping. But here is the kicker. They have been developing a new product that plugs into the OBD2 port to enable features. They already have it for the Mustang and Challenger. They offered to refund my money for the programming they were unable to do and send me the OBD Genie to activate the ports. I told him I had never heard of it and Austin told me that they haven't even released it yet. He said they could enable just about anything when they finally release it. It's 199.00 so it's not cheap. I am not sure how well its going to work or if you can keep the same Genie and have them load options in it as they become available. It's kinda like a lock pic I suppose but maybe a little easier to use. In any case if you have a 16 RA4 don't bother sending it in to have the Media Ports activate because according to Navrepair it cannot be done out of the vehicle. We have seen them have incorrect information before so who knows....Oh one other note. You do not have to leave the Genie in your OBD2 port. Once it's programed into your truck you can remove it.

I am supposed to get it tomorrow so I will let everyone know how it works. They are only developing it for the radio aspect of it but I am sure they could probably do more with it. They asked me what year make and model my truck was plus I had already given them my vin#. Honestly almost afraid to even plug it in when I get it since my radio is a 16 in a 14. It works great and I know the 16 radios can be finicky.
