Holy crap... I never caught that jrg18's radio was on v16.16.13!

v15.17.5 (2015 ra4 fw)
v16.13.13 (2015 ra4 fw) - most current
v16.09.09 (2016 ra4 fw) - most current

v16.16.13 (Jrg18's Ra4) What the @&%!

Not to alarm you Jeff, but your white unicorn radio makes no sense to me unless you got a special fw file download link from somewhere.
Did you use one of the files I hosted in the thread?

Ps: you have the most current 2013Q4 maps database (2015+ radios).
Any chance you can physically pop out your radio and take a picture of the back of the radio sometime?

The file you have hosted early in the thread for the 2015 is "MY15_RA4_16_16_13" even though the link says 16.13.13. I think the version is actually 16.16.13 and that's why the radio shows that. If he got the file from this thread, then that's the version he got.

It looks to me like he has a 2015 radio that's reporting a 2016 part number. Most likely they swapped in a component that holds the model number from a 2016 radio. My bet is that there is a protected section of the flash storage that is written during production and isn't modified by the bootloader later on. This is pretty common and typically contains things like model/serial numbers.

Thanks for pointing that out.
I'm gonna have to go back and recheck my files/links from a PC later.

Yeah. I should be able to pull it out tomorrow. I downloaded 16.13.13 from this thread that was listed in the MY15 radio post.
Sir , have you had a chance to verify if voice texting works with you current software you have installed ?
Did voice text work well prior to you installing the latest software update?

v16.13.13 (2013-2014 Ra4 Fw) - most current

v15.17.5 (2015 ra4 fw) - previous version
v16.16.13 (2015 ra4 fw) - most current

v16.09.09 (2016 ra4 fw) - most current

EDIT: (Corrected post & fw version info)
v16.16.13 (Jrg18's Ra4)
I went back through my VIN list, posts 2-5, and the uConnect site to verify the current Fw files...

First off:
- @Jrg18, sorry for the confusion on the FW versions.
v16.16.13 is the correct & latest version for 2015/My15 RA4 radios.

- @00R/T, thank you for pointing out the discrepancy. I apparently missed the typo in post 4 when moving between the posts, but I at least had the correct file/download link.

- @SitKneelBend, thank you for catching that Jrg18's screenshot showed the later FW version otherwise we would not have been looking for the typo.

2nd:
@Jrg18, while we have resolved what the correct/latest 2015 RA4 fw version should be, we still don't know why your radio menu lists a 2016 RA4 PN and yet it seems that you, in fact, have a 2015 RA4 radio.
As 00R/T and you have suggested, it seems that your radio may have refurbished components in it from a 2016 Radio that stored the previous PN.
We will be waiting to see what PN sticker is on the back of the radio (if any at all).

Thanks jrg18.
Yep, that's a 2016 Ra4 pn scratched out on the back, and it looks like someone knew that it was "15" parts inside (15 P).

But it is working!

What's interesting is the serial number the unit is reporting matches the sticker on the back, so it must be stored in the same place as the p/n (likely on some part from a 16). I'd be curious to see if the XM IDs match.

Another good catch on this mystery. Maybe Jrg18 will confirm the XM ID via the menu.

Very interesting. I would expect the XM ID to be in the XM receiver because it is more than just a local identifier like the others; it is how the device is addressed on the network. That seems to imply that you have both some non-volatile memory and the XM module from the 2016 radio. I'm beginning to wonder if they didn't program a '16 radio with '15 firmware. The bootloader won't let us do that, but if the hardware is close enough they could have taken a full factory image from a '15 and flashed it in.

So possible to send to navrepair and have them do the opposite and image '16 software in......if I were so inclined?

That is what I am wondering as well.

Trying to explain to them what you have going on with your radio via phone/email would be a challenge so that you get a good answer. You would have to email them pictures of the front/back of the radio and the radio menu screens you have shown us so that they see the same discrepancies we do.

Edit:
CTS had a pieced together RA4 that wasn't working at all. He ended up sending it to NavRepair (not sure how much $$) and they put humpty dumpty back together again correctly. See here.

Problems with 16.16.13 update

I recently did the latest Uconnect update to 16.16.13 (the hands-free Siri update) on my '15. Now I am having significant issues with indexing of songs on my memory card. All songs in each folder now show a "._" prior to each track name, then lists them again below in alphabetical order without the "._" in front of the name. I have checked the media in my computer, and the data is not corrupted. But just in case, i deleted and reformatted the drive and copied the song folders again. Same issue. Any ideas what is causing this, or in lieu of this, anyone know how to roll back to the previous version?

You can roll back by simply flashing the previous compatible firmware package. Emphasis on compatible.

I have a 2014 1500 ST

I am not sure all the info you need from radio so I set in dealer mode and took a picture. See below.
Thanks! That's everything I needed...

2016 RA4/VP4-NA
Pn: 68258671AH
SW: 16.09.09 (latest)

And the case pn matches the one reported by the software menu. Good.
