How important is the limited slip differntial? Truck has the 3:92 rear end, just wondering how vital the diff was?

Do you ever plan to drive off road, in the snow, or aggressively?

If so, the LSD is important. You could probably get buy without it, but why would you want to. Also, with a 3.92 rear end the tires will break loose easier than with 3.55s.

You absolutely want it if you tow or do anything off perfect asphalt.

Hell, just driving in the rain makes it something you'll never want to do without IMO.

My first truck had an open diff. NEVER again!

It's important enough I will not own another truck without one, UNLESS I plan on installing a locking rear diff myself.

My 2007 has the 3.92 gearing and it has LSD or whatever Dodge calls it. Thought that was by default if you had the 3.92 gearing and anything below was open diff or is that wrong?

Nope, LSD is an option no matter the gears.

A guy used to work for us that had an old ford with an open diff. Every day when he left he would light that one "butter cutter" up and leave these single marks in the street going all crazy. It was hilarious...side of the bed all flopping around from rust. sorry. off topic.
