I’m redoing my whole front steering and suspension in on my 01 Ram Sport 4x4. Removed they upper and lower ball joints but the lower ball joint has a snap ring but I have no room to install it. The ball joint is seated properly. The lower ball joint that I removed didn’t have a snap ring but the new one has one. I see most aftermarket one have snap rings. Most parts are for more than one vehicle. Anyone else run into this issue? Am I safe to say it’s fine?

i would try to see if i could find another ball joint that would fit correctly or (probably not reccomended)but it don't look like you need much more,i would take a grinder and take just a little off the top and bottom of that knuckle.it might be cool w/o the snap ring, but me personally would not risk it.i did the ball joints on my 2k4 ,they were original, they had a snap ring.new ones(moog)went back in fine w/snaprings.

Did that just slide in the Lower control arm, of did you use a ball joint press, might not be the right ball joint you need that C ring to hold it in place other wise it can move around.

it should be pressed in pretty tight, the snapring keeps it from walking out.
