my dad had a black 96 that faded and was oxidizing as well maybe it was something in the paint?

Yeah I know on another forum a guy had a 97 or so that did that on the hood/roof.

My 97 is doing it on the front edge of the roof, near the windshield. It's starting to do it on the hood too. I can see a slight haze on it when it's clean and waxed

It's common with our second gens...the clear coat they used was garbage early on.

I like the darker blue, and add some more metal flake to it, so when it shines it really pops.

thats what i am basically wanting something dark but just light enough to tell its blue, and add alot metallic flakes to make it stand out when its all waxed and shiney

97 was really kind of 'early' in the clear coat phase.

If it was my truck and I was painting it blue again, I would do the electric blue found on the 07-08 trucks. Looks GOOOD
