I used ARP grade 8 bolts when i did my headers. Also used the best gaskets made...copper. They create the best seal, and are reusable. Similar in price as to the 6.1 remflex gaskets but better.
I also used copper collector gaskets.

Got a link for the gaskets?

I wish somebody made an upgraded bolt kit for the manifolds. I’m not sure what I need for the studs on the heatshield

Go with JBA long tube headers thats the best solution. Worked very well for me. Make sure to use copper header and collector gaskets.

A warranty safe fix would be spectacular. Upgraded bolts would do it, but the issue seems to be more the fact that they are such small diameter. And that *cant* be fixed because a larger diameter hole would breech the water jackets in the block.

Ya I really don’t want to spend the money on all that plus custom tuning etc. I’m just trying to replace my bolts/gasket as preventative maintenance.

Only time will tell on the copper gaskets. I’m sure @2010 Infantry Vet will report his findings with them as time goes on.

Well the only way a copper gasket can leak is if a bolt snaps, or comes loose. And even then they can be re-used. I had a top of the line header gasket blow on a different vehicle, and after that swore i will only use copper in the future. If i have any issues i will let you guys know.

Got the tick one afternoon when I went to start my truck to go on lunch. Ordered some JBA shorties since figured may as well upgrade while I’m there. Ran into clearance issues with the frame in my 15’ 2500 and had to send them back. Ended up doing grade 8 hardware and using a 6.1 Hemi gasket.

Nice they look good , I just installed longtubes last weekend. No issues with the head bolts the hardest part was connecting the midpipe. Are you getting it tuned ?

for those looking at those amazon fasteners, they are 8.8 metric aka equivalent to grade 5.

vs SAE

For those that were told there would be no math, min tensile strength 120,000 psi for grade 5 = 827.3 MPa IE really ******* close to 8.8.

You’ll need 16 M8-1.25x50 grade 8 bolts for the exhaust manifolds.
For those that are concerned about torque rating a M8 fastener. A 8.8 fastener is 18.8 ft lbs max. a 10.9 or grade 8 equivalent 26.9 ft lbs. Assuming you didn't put antisieze on it. Read subnotes on K if you did.

All tables stolen from above link.

If you don't want to buy the stage 8 stuff ie Bolts Are Aircraft Quality Grade 8– 4130 Alloy Steel. Go to fastenal and pick up proper 10.9 or grade 8 bolts. Since its an M8, I'll bet you its 10.9 your looking for.

Also a good read for those with the desire.

The ones I picked up were 10.9s from my local Fastenal. I just pulled up an amazon link thinking they were the same.

I have an 08 5.7 and two of the rear bolts are broken. I have only 110 k on my half ton. I live in the north east though that may be the whole problem with mine. I haven't attempted to repair yet. Do they come out easy, or is this going to be a drill and tap thing?
