I’ve been looking at all the different brands of lights, bulbs and reading all the information, good and bad, and made a decision that, I feel gave me the most bang for my buck. I chose to try the Supernova V.4 in my low beam quads. I would love to get my hands on a lux meter to get numbers, but there is night and day difference from the halogens. One issue I was concerned with was blinding oncoming vehicles, so I makes 4 friends with 4 different vehicles to drive towards me. No problems whatsoever. I am sure that the fact that the LED’s are clocked at 3 and 9 o’clock makes the beam pattern almost identical to the halogens. It lights up the ground much further down the road and MUCH brighter which is what I was looking for. The pure white light they emit is so much better than the dull pale light the halogens produce. We recently had many days of rain and the V.4’s really do well to light up the wet road, unlike the halogens.
My only complaint, and Headlight Revolution has been working with me on this, is that I had my DRL’s turned on about 6 months ago and they worked great with the halogens. The LED’s do not like them!!! There must be something in the CANBUS that doesn’t like the reduced power of the DRL’s in this application, so during my oil change and recall work I had them turned off.
The fact that the V.4’s are so much brighter, and give me what I was looking for, I probably will not invest the $1,000+ cost of the fantastic looking Morimotos.....unless someone will lend me a pair to try and I see a significant difference. My next purchases will be the high beam and fog light LED conversion.
