Need help! PCV and Condensation problems

It’s a different kind of cold that far north, next to no humidity. It doesn’t go right through you like the cold where I’m at now.

I’m in Thunder Bay Canada, where it gets to -40 degrees Celsius frequently. Let’s say the motor is sludgy, what’s the best way to clean it out good? Obviously Quaker state won’t be used anymore, but how do I get rid of all the sludge. I had one valve cover off last year and that same yellow liquid was under there.

There’s this stuff called motor medic, it flushes a lot of junk out but some of that junk may be keeping that engine going so it a catch 22.

Sludge is usually black crud, if it’s just that yellow stuff, it’s condensation mixed in oil.

I feel your pain brother, I do.

It’s just like flushing a high mileage tranny, it may make it better or worse. It sucks that it’s such a gamble and don’t know the history of the truck.

Maybe try changing the oil in short intervals for a bit.

Hmm. Sucks. When I change the oil it always looks perfect too. Maybe If I cardboard it for the winter again and keep throwing in a little sea foam right before I change the oil? Hopefully that’ll clear out over time. Along with continuously cleaning that valve out. I’m guessing synthetic wouldn’t be a smart choice with a 218,000km motor either (135k miles)

My 4.7 loved 5/30 Mobil 1 high mileage, but it’s up to you. Hook up a catch can like someone said earlier, that would definitely help with you pcv issue.

Also if there are any low spots on the line, that’s where it builds and freezes so try to keep the lines where fluid can’t sit.

Motormedic is kerosene you can use auto transmission oil and you can use diesel fuel and seafoam.I use Mobil 1 5w30 high mileage in my 4.7.When you pull the drain plug let it drain I mean let it drain.You can pour a quart of diesel while it is draining too and watch crap come out the drain hole.After that keep a eye on your oil.Also a catch can is a good idea.

I might try the catch can. It never really stays in the lines too bad. It just stays in the oil fill cap, goes into the pcv valve, and the pcv valve is what freezes. After that the hose is fairly clean.

Also can pour a quart of kerosene in and let it run for 3-4 min then drain.

Wait a second, is your pcv on the oil fill? Cause my 02 was and there is a tsb to relocate the pcv to stop that exact problem.

Yeah, it’s get moved to the rear of the left side of engine, go on google and type tsb for Dodge Ram pcv relocation.

That will bring you to the steps involved, I didn’t do it to my truck but many in colder climates have.
