Just to get this part of the way, it's an 05 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 liter 4x4 and the programmer is a flashpaq 3842. I'm looking at the tuner because I need to save some had on the highway and I've got a 4.56 gears in the truck. Now my question is this. Can I use the factory tune setting (such as fuel economy mode) with new gears. I'm afraid that maybe the tuner will have 3.55 gears programmed for that factory tune. And I just don't want mess up my truck.

I'm trying to decipher what is you're trying to do? I assume you're trying to save gas. Yes you can put it back to stock, it will run just fine if you haven't done any actual engine work. What fuel economy mode are you talking about? If you mean MDS, you don't have it. The gears shouldn't matter if you still have the 9.25 rear.

Yes saving gas is the big one. And yeah I think its called specifically "milage xs". Just not sure if I can have 4.56 gears with that tune. Or even if the gear ratio matters at all when using a preprogrammed tune. That's what I really need to know.

Oh ok, you want to use the mileage tune in the tuner. Gear atio shouldn't matter as long as the tire diameter is the same.

Gears mean nothing to a tune, only thing that will change is that you will adjust your tire diameter in the tune to fix your speedo if have changed tire size. Nothing else will matter.
