So i have a 2015 Ram Bighorn 4WD that i bought a few months ago that has had a bad manifold leak on the passenger side since i bought it so i took on the task of extracting the bolts.

After getting the wheel off and heatshield, it was of course the rear 2 bolts that had snapped off, but a curious thing was that the dealer or previous owner had tried to put some type of sealant on it to try and quiet the ticking...

After 7 hours of frustrating work trying to get a nut to hold with my crap welding skills i finally got enough of a nub built up to use a pair of vice grips and got both bolts removed!

I planed my original manifold flat, slapped a new gasket and bolts in and no more ticky ticky.

You guys helped a TON on this forum! so many good tips and tricks I spent about a week looking through all the threads.

This is my second Ram 5.7 the first i just lived with the ticking at startup but man I'm glad I fixed this one. Now i just need to get better oil and filter and will be golden.

Great you fixed it the way most here do, W welding a washer/nut and turning it out.
If you want to get on a good lubrication strategy: Redline synthetic 5w30w using a royal purple filter 20-820 w lubeGard bio tech 15oz bottle that's a good start!!

I thought Redline 5W30 had enough moly in it. I thought the going theory was to add the LubeGard Biotech to any other oil and make a "poor man's" Redline.

No need for lube guard when using redline 5w30. Redline has enough moly in it already which is why most start using to quite down the things.

Just did mine last weekend with the Harbor Freight belt sander, both rearward bolts broke, 1 broke flush. Bolt extractor worked (broken end was not frozen to the head). It took just over 5 hours including 1 tool run for a right angle drill to get in there.
