Hey,
I have a an 03 2500 with the 5.7. My stock muffler is pretty much rusted out. I'm looking for a bit of an upgrade from stock but price is still a big factor for me. I was just wondering if anyone had a suggestion, or anything to stay away from for that matter.
Thanks

Are you looking for a quiet stock replacement or something with a little rumble to it? Reguardless, you want to go with a stainless replacement to keep this one from rusting.

I listened to a lot of YouTube muffler clips, and I found a lot of mufflers made the Hemi sound raspy at high revs, but Magnaflow was deep and throaty, plus is stainless if you live somewhere that has real winter.

Try searching Craigslist if you really want to keep cost low. I looked for about a month but finally found a used Magnaflow 24". I then had it welded up with turndowns instead of full piping to keep price low. I was quoted about $500 for a dual pipe setup from a reputable local shop; I spent $35 for the muffler, $5 for high temp paint and $60 for the welding and turndowns from a less well known shop.

Here's a peek and a listen to mine:

Here is a clip of my truck. I have a Jones full boar single chamber muffler. You can get it for $25+ shipping straight from Jones. Its a single chamber so its gonna be loud but as long as you keep your cats on it'll avoid the popping and cracking that IMO doesn't sound too good. I have duals on it so that'll cost you but for a while I was just running the muffler with nothing after it because I wasn't looking to spend too much money at the time either.

The prices are gonna be from the cheap side $25 on up to $200 just depends on what ya want out of it. Im also running the full boar single chamber and it could be alill to loud for city driving, I have also ran flowmaster delta flow 40 series that are the norm for the trucks. Higher end is on the 05 a full Borla stainless steel system.

FWIW, mine came with the factory Borla exhaust. It was ok, but I wanted something a little bit louder, so I had a cherry bomb vortex installed. It's a little louder than the Borla and a little throatier.
