Ya'll may think I'm nuts but I think the autopark update wasn't part of the cruise control recall / update. Well before this U07 autopark "campaign" came out, I got the cruise control recall done. Before the cruise control update was done, I was able to and DID open my door while moving the truck around doing yard work and it was fine. After the cruise control update, I had autopark. When I look on the Mopar site, it shows I still haven't had the U07 campaign done.

More people might have the autopark than they realize. My question is, if it was packaged with the cruise control recall, why is there a new U07 campaign?

You know, I felt like my truck did NOT do anything about backing up with door open before the cruise recall, either.

What is odd is that when AutoPark was first released, the dealer told me it would be a 4+ hour update for my truck (certain combination of the premium EVIC, larger radio screen, etc). I didnt want AutoPark nor did I want to wait, so I passed. I did eventually go for the cruise recall, which took 15 minutes so I just figured AutoPark really wasnt part of it.

Couple weeks later I ended up with my first experience with AutoPark and then started to wonder if I had ever done the exact same steps before. I just assumed I had not, but your story makes me wonder even more now.

It doesnt bother me too much, I dont run into the situation very often, but its a bit annoying if they somehow got it in (or maybe in the case of '17 they just "fixed the glitch" and turned AutoPark to On)

Rotary shifter. This is an auto park recall for 8 speed trucks from 2013-2016.
Thanks!
Wow,.........FCA is loading up the recalls on these trucks, huh? Unbelievable. lol
I just watched a video on a 2019 and they had the recall as well.

Also got the campaign noted on my Ram Account/App. I have 2016/8 sp rotary, had the cruise recall done about 2 months ago or so, but wasn't sure if they did this AutoPark deal (at the time I had no idea about it).

Anyway I just went out and tested, seat belt unbuckled, put it in reverse, opened the door - I got the "Vehicle is not in Park" message on EVIC but the truck kept backing up. So I guess I didn't get it with the CC update. I also have seat belt chime disabled, although I don't think that would make any difference.

Anyway yeah not planning on getting that campaign done lol.

Good for you man. Same here.
I haven't gotten any of the recalls done and I don't plan on it either. (I have a 2016 Sport 4X4.)

The dealer performed the recall yesterday. I have 35s on the truck, so I plugged my AEV Procal in this morning and changed tire size back to adjust the speedometer, and received a nice CEL as a reward. FAAAAACK. Now it won't go into ECO mode, which isn't all bad.

What is the "auto park" feature anyways?
(I have a 2016 Ram Sport 4X4 with the rotary dial shifter of course.)

If the truck is in gear, seat belt off, door opened and foot NOT on brake and the truck at a certain speed range, the truck will refuse to move and one of the gear lights will start flashing. Only way to undo it is to put the truck back in Park then go to whatever gear you want.

Depending on what you do with your truck, it could be a problem. I havent hit up against it very much, so so far in my case Im not too bothered.

I think it's a good idea..I have gotten out of my truck and forgotten to place the rotary shifter in park. It's just like anything else, you will get used to it.

Ahhhhhhh,....that makes sense.
I never do that, so I'm good on that recall as well. I'll pass. Thanks for the explanation.

It's a safety feature, due to it being somewhat easy to forget turn the rotary knob to park (vs the traditional lever/shifter that everyone is used to) - apparently it became such a common problem that RAM had to come up with a solution.

It really only becomes a hassle in some cases when towing or backing to trailer/ramp/etc or situations like that where you might have door open looking back, etc.

Yeah, I can see it being a safety issue.
No worries for me though. I never back up with the door open.

It cost me $6k when i didn't put it in park.

left it in drive, and it ran into my garage wall. New hood, bumper, headlight, repair/paint left fender and driver door.

Well, FWIW, it is a PITA especially when loading hay/trailer stuff,. Here is the work around, BUT DO NOT DRIVE with it. Just a work around like in a field loading hay, moving with door open, backing trailer. I accept no responsibility, do at yer own risk. Go to this URL and order if U think U want: I always keep (1) in center console if I need to back up with door open and not want to mess around with seat belt:

DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF GETTING OUT WITH VEHICLE IN GEAR, NOT A GOOD IDEA

I too hate this feature and can anyone tell me how your supposed to tow this truck if you can’t put in neutral. I haven’t figured it on my 17 express. I was on scene of an accident that the tow truck driver couldn’t get it up the ramp so he dragged this poor guy 16 tradesman. Wish I was able to offer him some input.

There is a "pull handle" located behind one of the interior panels that you pull on to release the transmission. Instructions in the owners manual, video here:
