Below is a picture where my truck's temp sits when driving around town however when accelerating up hill on freeway/highway the needle will go up to almost touching the 210 mark and when I crest the hills it will go back down. I believe I have a 180 thermostat but thats just a guess from where the temp needle sits on normal driving.

Early indecation of failing thermostat? Or need a new or more efficient radiator?

I'd try a good flush first. It shouldn't increase temp accelerating like that. And you probably have a 195* stat since that's exactly where mine sits as well.

Coolant looks new and theres no eveidence of rust on the radiator cap so thats why I havent flushed it yet... only abnormal thing about the coolant system ive noticed is that inside the lower radator hose it feels like theres flexable metal conduit inside the black rubber hose.... Any idea what this is? The top hose feels normal when I squeeze it.

The more I think about it sounds like my t stat my be partly stuck closed because the temp only increases when climbing long hills. But each time its consistent, it goes up to about 200/205 but never beyond even when accelerating at 3100rpms up steep long mountian hills

that should be a spring inside the hose (made that way) to keep it from collapsing

Have you tried burping the cooling system yet? There could be an air bubble in the system that's moving to the radiator when under stress.

Take it cold and park it where the radiator cap is much higher than the rest of the system, take the cap off (while cold), and start the engine and allow it to warm up. You'll have to rev it occasionally and add more coolant to the rad.

Well right now Im at college about 4hrs from my house where I typically work on my truck and only have minimal tools with me currently so for now, because the coolant looks new, ill burp the system and test it for a while and go from there. Thanks for all the help and suggestions!
