I installed a catch can on my 2016 Ram 1500 5.7.
I checked it 24 22beeff1a43684624ec397749095047c.jpgb8593ff2c906af7a6228da3ff01f5960.jpgadbb8b05e45d5518a338f586cbad62a7.jpg29f934e7aef7c7d57993d7a7692e8f23.jpgdays later and already had quite a bit in it.
Worth it to me . 2e6f303c1448830f5a4e167a3bec1342.jpg

Mine was closer to $115, doh. The handle on the drain valve fell off but I bought some replacement ball valves off eBay for $3 shipped. I drain it every few thousand miles and check to see if I need to add oil back.

But the important thing not being reported is what HP gains are you seeing. :)

You know I bet you are right there is no hp gain with a catch can.
But I bet there is no loss over time like there might be without one. Just think about how filthy its going to be in the intake and then all the baked on crap on the back of the intake valve.

No way. Black anodized aluminum parts under the hood? At least 50hp gain! I have the BT polished unit. I heard they are a bit less but still pretty good! :biggun:

You may be right, but when the time comes for me to trade it in and buy another the chances the dealer or private buyer will say "wait before I make you an offer I need to see how dirty the intake is" is very unlikely. :angels2:

So, would a truck with a catch can installed for 100k miles have more HP gains than a truck without it (assuming throttle was never cleaned)? Hmmmm

I'm no gear head. But based on what I have read and having personal experience with a gunked throttle body that I had to clean, it makes sense.

I put in a catch can so I don't have to clean a throttle body and be alerted by poor HP from that gunk that it's time to clean. I'd rather spend the day doing a mod, making a board, surfing or fishing. This can better do what I expect or I am going to be pissed and have to join the naysayers! Lol...

I just do not believe the hype behind these. The oil that does get by, will just get burnt off. They also add zero power, and the prices are just rediculous.
Just my $.02

Then don’t buy one .
To each there own .
After 28,000 miles .
Just friendly advice here. 1b0aca8041e61833af242e311597d7cd.jpg0ae733097b3fcb08d484fd444b63adb1.jpgec5f56bd33856a55fca29c2db2d978bb.jpg

I'm 99% confident that nobody installs these assuming any power or mpg increase. The only reason I wont say 100% is because there's always that 1 idiot out there. I had less than $60 into mine, and if that is considered a ridiculous price than so is eating out with a family of 4 that nobody thinks twice about.

As far as the hype, maybe everything will get burned off... I doubt it. There are countless youtube videos of intake plenums and valves that are caked with unburnt ****, vehicles that run like **** and need service work due to the build up of unburnt ****. I'll take my chances that a sub $60 investment might prevent me the headache of a truck that runs like crap and needs service work to clean what might have been caught by a catch can.
