Just get the TransDapt 1127 kit and some hose clamps and install it as it comes out of the box. Make sure you measure your hoses on the long side (it comes with about 5-6 feet). You can re-read this or drop me a PM and I can give you a heads up on best practices on how to install it.

You don't want a cooler if you're not going to run a thermostat control on it. As Gi stated just get the Trans Dapt kit,but i'd recommend upgrading the 1/2" (-8) lines and fittings to 5/8" (-10) if you're budget allows it.

Definitely need to do this! Probably the worst location for a oil filter that I have come across. RAM engineers need to get with the engineers for the Jeep Cherokee. My wifes '18 Cherokee with the 2.4l is hands down the easiest oil change from the factory that I've seen. They both need to relax the torque settings on the robot that installs them from the factory though.

Just did my first DIY oil change on my '17. Kinda a pain! I was able to get the bigger filter in there without much issue BUT I couldn't find a way to do so while it was filled with oil (basically had to hold it sideways from in front of the axle then tilt it back straight once I fed it to under the filter mount)

Id love to do remote mount, but am worried they would void my MaxCare warranty. I still like doing my own oil changes, though, so its a dilemma. But anyone not worrying about that, Id remote mount whenever possible.

See Magnusson-Moss Act.

The manufacturer has to prove a non-OEM part caused or could cause a failure in order to deny any sort of claim or coverage.

As you can see the filter mount is butted up against the vertical frame tow hook mount. You can also see, the hose and fittings are a little tight at the top and slightly touch the lower portion of the fan shroud. That’s what I would change about it’s position if I did it again, a little lower on the (horizontal) frame.

I will mention, I drilled and tapped the frame and tapped the holes on the mount (there’s 3) so there is more purchase and rigidity on the frame than just using the supplied self tapping screws (into the frame).

I like the idea of K&N filters because of the nut on the bottom of them. But which one will fit my trans Depot kit?

K&N's filters don't have a great rep,a Royal Purple filter is generally considered to be one of the better filters available these days, and a 30-8A will fit your remote mount.Any filter that uses a 3/4-16 thread will fit your remote mount.

Once I started doing my own oil changes, taking the filter off at next oil change is a little more than good hand grip and slowly turning. Imho the nut on kn filters is a gimmick unless it was installed with an impact wrench.

Just did the first oil change 2k on my 2017. PITA filter location no doubt. Question though all the relocation installs I've seen have been under the hood. Why are you guys mounting the kits under or on the frame, the engine bay seems roomy enough.

Preferably you want the remote filter below the original filter to prevent oil drainback, and the frame is a great place to mount the remote mount

Why would my truck be reading low oil pressure? I have the lines connected in with in out with out. Is this correct?

Nope, you got them backasswards, lol. Out from the filter goes to In on the remote mount, and Out from the remote mount goes to In on the filter adapter.Don't drive it any farther till you get the lines reversed

As stated above, IN goes to OUT, OUT goes to IN.

That’s the reason why I used different colored AN fittings. And the smart play is to just drain the oil out and swap the lines. Don’t try and clamp them you’re just gonna have a huge mess to deal with.

He doesn't need to drain the oil to swap the hoses, all he has to do is swap the hoses around on his remote filter mount

I snugged it up too tight by hand, once I drove my truck a bit it pressurized the system, and I couldn’t remove it using either a metal or rubber strap filter wrench. (I was fixing a leak at the filter relocation bracket, so I needed to remove the filter)

Hence I bought a large filter “socket” that fits on a 3/8” ratchet.

So I can remove just the lines and swap them? I may need to remove the filter just to make it easier to swap the lines. Should this be a problem or will you recommend draining the oil out completely
