With all the rebates and cash back it makes lot more sense to buy new. I got a good deal on my 14 when i bought it 2 years ago but if I could do it again I would have saved up a lil longer and bought new.

But the prices on used 10 year old trucks around me is crazy, can't believe that someone would spend that much.

To me, the resale value on trucks is high. Especially cc 4wd. I looked at used, then figured that like most people, I probably wont keep the truck longer than 10 years. If you play the long game, buying a new pickup with middle of the road trim and take care of it, you’ll probably loose the least amount of money. Of course, that depends on having a low interest rate/paying cash.

I don’t want to do a lot to it, just enough to meet my needs.

Crazy used prices and I guarantee the first words from the salesman's mouth when trading in are, "well, yeah, the used truck market is really soft right now....."

*Reminder, SF Bay Area is one of the clearinghouse spots for rental company trucks. A lot of the dealerships out here buy Enterprise and Hertz trucks from a local auction. Just remember, "If it's yours, drive it like you own it, if it's a rental, then play away." IMHO, wait and look, heck, fly to Idaho/Montana and pick up a new one from one of those two top sellers and drive it home. #DRkNess'sRoadTripThread

**Disclaimer, while not at one of those dealerships anymore, my neighbor did go through them via a referral from me and got a really clean BigHorn that's a former Enterprise fleet.

Seriously now, just to say it again, no PEER PRESSURE at all, #DRkNess'sRoadTripThread. :p

Just for fun expand your search to east of the Mississippi to see what’s out there. I ended up getting my truck from North Carolina. There very few that were equipped the way I wanted at my price range. Then get a dealer to communicate...sure. We made a weekend road trip out of picking up our new truck back in 8/15.

Yep used prices are out of control. I get with lower miles, but with 100+, not worth it. I bet the Big Three love this ****. People go to the used market, realize the insane asking prices and end up just buying new lol.

I've bought and traded more cars than I care to admit...my first dealership car was purchased in 1997. It wasn't until 2008 until I bought my first new car...by 2013 all I bought were new cars. The discounts on them and the high price of used cars are just to close anymore. It used to be that you'd be a fool not to get a used car in the 2yr old range...now? Too many discounts to ignore the new offers.

I filled up today and got 19 gal. at $2.45 after seeing prices finally come back down after going up over 20 cents recently. It used to be New Jersey had the cheapest gas around and people from PA would go out of their way to get gas in NJ. All that was ruined when NJ increased the gas tax by 23 cents per gallon.

But NJ still has WAWA while all of you further west have no clue what I'm talking about. :33:

You have to understand that the State of New Jersey has made the determination that the people within the State are too stupid to pump our own gas. While the attendants that pump our gas may look like underachieving idiots I'm sure the powers to be that allow them to pump gas have ensured that they have special skills to keep the driving public safe. :insane:
