I have changed my mind on using a FRAM Utra Synthetic oil filter. I opened up the FRAM Ultra Synthetic oil filter I purchased a week ago from Wal-Mart and didn't like what I saw.

Overall quality of the outer/internal parts with the exception of the filter media looked good ... the filter media is very thin and easily tears apart with my fingers and doesn't have any type of wire mesh backing that imo this filter media desperately could use.

My oil/oil filter combo will continue to be Red Line 5w/30 and Royal Purple 20-820 oil filter or the AMSOIL aeo11.

NEVER USE FRAM!! THIS IS THE WORST FILTER YOU CAN RECOMMEND. THEY ARE GARBAGE. I USE TO USE THEM UNTIL I HAD A FAILURE THAT COULD HAVE BLOWN THE ENGINE. NOT ON MY RAM I USED IT ON ANOTHER VEHICLE.
Your opinion. The Ultra line isn't the old "orange can of death" wives tales you read about on the internet. They test very well and filter as good or better than the Royal Purple filters from what I have read here. Royal Purple filters are very hard to find in Canada and cost a fortune if you can find one. There is also no need to type in all caps.

I was in reference with the FRAM Ultra 10575 in my last post. I also purchased an FRAM Ultra XG2 and cut that one open as well, it looked better imo, but I've decided not to use either and instead I decided to use an AMSOIL AEO11 ...

Perhaps we all are starting to understand why the 20-820 is the perfect filter, sadly everyone seams to know as it is closing in on a year it has been out of stock everywhere. If you cant find a spun glass filter to match, perhaps it is time to look at blended filters, on a 5k mile interval I'd say those are good, looks like m1-210A is the large filter for ram. The 6 inlet holes are much bigger then the amsoil 11. It appears smaller, I need to check that. they say 4x4x4 inches

CALL SUMMIT RACING. I PURCHASE THE REDLINE OIL AND THE ROYAL PURPLE FROM THEM. OR SOMEONE SAID CALL ROYAL PURPLE THEMSELVES. NEVER USE FRAM. I ALMOST LOST AN ENGINE DUE TO FILTER FAILUE. THE AUTO PARTS GUY I DEAL WITH SAID HE HEARD THE SAME COMPLAINT FROM HIS OTHER CUSTOMERS. IF YOU CAN'T GET THE ROYAL PURPLE GET A MOPAR FILTER. I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON CARS AND TRUCKS FOR 50 YEARS AND WAS A FORMER FORD MECHANIC. DO NOT USE FRAM OR ANY OTHER FILTER!!

Well, it's all interesting.

Royal Purple/AMSOIL/Mobile 1 oil filters ... are manufactured by Champion Labs and are out of stock on the RP 20-820 that most like using in their HEMI engine, but stock is still good on the other two filters and for how long until most decide to stock up those?

The Purolator Boss PBL 24651 base plate looks identical to the Mobile 1 ... I've used the Purolator Boss in the past and wouldn't hesitate a minute on using them again if the RP 20-820 becomes extinct, which I'm currently doubting.

I've not made a full decision to keep using the AMSOIL EAO11 ...it's still early in this very current oci, however there wasn't any start up clatter today while I was out running errands.

Much cheaper at royalpurpledirect, 11.99 ea when buying 6 or more. Free shipping over 100$. Just had 9 of them delivered couple days ago, 107$. Both my wifes Durango and now my Ram since the filter relocation use them. Should be good for quite a while!
