Anyone know if it's better to add a bottle right before or right after an oil change? Or does it not even matter? Also has anyone ever used Royal Purples equivalent of SeaFoam?

If you're going to add it to your oil, do it before.
That way any gunk that gets loosened up gets changed out soon.

X2 - don't leave that stuff in there very long.
Is ~200 miles long enough?

Also is there a difference between adding to oil and adding to gas? Should I do both?

Yes 200 miles is long enough. Good time to go ahead and change it and yes, do both the oil and gas. Don't forget to run the tank down to empty before refueling.

Coming from the GM LS engines, I was always told to change the spark plugs after I did this. Might be something you want to do while you're at it. Fresh plugs is always a good thing lol

Also, is it a big deal if I add it when the tank is partially full? My ******** forgot I was going to do this and filled it up.

I don't think it's to big of a deal, it should still do its job, maybe just not as good.

And yup the plugs do suck changing out lol I'm about 6,000 miles away from doing mine and I'll be doing the seafoam as well.

You don't need to change plugs after adding to the fuel if you only add the recommended amount from the can label. Done this tons of times. In the crankcase, it will thin the oil and make it get dirty quick. I'm not sure I would even leave it in the crankcase for 200 miles. I would add it to crankcase and drive it around for 20 minutes and then change it. Are you having a particular problem that is making you want to use it?

Nope. Just preventative maintenance. I've been adding it to the tank around every oil change and I figured I would add it to the oil this time.

Seafoam, IMO, is NOT preventative maintenance. Personally I think it causes more problems than it fixes, but usually it's reserved for higher mileage cars that are getting down on power a bit and need to get some gunk cleared up.

Your truck is new enough that you should be using a good fuel additive on a fairly regular basis and be just fine, as long as you're keeping up with oil changes and such. Lucas, RP, etc. are good ones. Techron is good too, but back when I had a V8 benz, those guys never used it more than once per oil change as recommended by the factory techs.

Truth is the systems now are so much more efficient with regards to filtering than they used to be. Fuel filters, oil filters etc. all do a much better job than before and because of that plus tighter tolerances the engines don't get gunked up as much.

Bang for the buck, get a catch can on that thing and stop the oil getting in the upper cylinder chamber in the first place, rather than relying on seafoam to get it out after the fact.

X2 - Don't put it in your crankcase without a really good reason.

I good oil & Filter along with a Good OCI schedule will help keep your engine clean and sludge free. Try to Eliminate as many Short Trips as Possible! Heat will evaporate the moisture out of the oil.

Techron/Redline SI-1 are both excellent detergent cleaners-->Not Solvents! Very Important.

Just my honest opinion from Years of Experience.

I change my oil twice a year-->Once before Winter & Once Before Summer. So I add a fuel system cleaner twice a year.

You can add Redline SI-1 every fill up if ya like! Just read the directions and add the oz per gallon ratio.

One more Cleaner that has not been brought up yet is Chemtool B12 w/H.E.S.T. is a very strong fuel system cleaner. it is Catalytic converter and oxygen sensor-safe-->Very Important.

I'm not bashing Seafoam! I'm just not a Fan of this Product!

I should have been more clear with my words. It's recommended to change the plugs when you add the sea foam to the oil, not the gas.
