Please remind me what this is and where it goes. Putting my 2010 Ram 1500 5.7 back together after cam and lifter swap. TIA!

That appears to be the coolant temp sensor that threads into the water pump.

That's the old, plastic style. A new oem water pump would come with the newer, brass style pre installed.

Thank you Ken! I've got the brass one too. Trouble is, I took both off of this engine and I don't know where this one goes back in.

The 2nd is probably the oil temp sensor. I think the same part is used for both coolant and oil temps. In the block by the oil filter.

You'll know if you leave the hole empty. It'll be the one with the high velocity jet of oil spraying out right before your engine seizes due to no oil pressure.

Use a brass one there. The oil pressure runs a lot higher than coolant pressure.

This is crazy. I have the oil temp sensor (brass) in the engine, and oil pressure sensor (brass). I never took them out. And I've reinstalled the brass water temp sensor. Idk why I still have this plastic sensor. Maybe I found it laying around in the engine bay? I can't find a place to install it. I'll keep looking as I finish reassembly.

oil pressure sensor (brass).

The only other temp sensors that I know of are the trans temp and air charge temp sensors. But they are totally different.

So, yea, hopefully its a leftover from some previous job. I bet you'll find out soon after the first time you crank it up.

I just found a flashlight up inside the dash of my wife's Durango last week. It's been missing since I installed the aftermarket trailer brake controller, a long time ago.

It needs a new battery.

Did you find any 10mm sockets?

I wish I could say that stuff never happened to me, but sadly, it has.
