Ok y'all I'm new here. I've got a couple of questions. What do y'all think of deleting the shudders in front of the radiator, replacing the thermostat with a 180, removing the mechanical fan, and replacing the e-fan with the OEM v-6 e-fan? All this on a 2015 1500 5.7. Just looking for some advice before I spend any money. Pros.....Cons....

I'm running a 190, Shutter Delete, and V6 Efan without any major issues and have been for almost a year. I do have a random CEL though since my shutter motor has seen better days (I need to take it apart and clean it... again). If you want to run the 180 then I would strongly suggest a custom tune and that's the route I'll be going soon since I have spare 180's and I'm just going to have the shutter CEL disabled. Depending on the grill you have you might also want to look at new inserts or replacing the grill for more air flow (Will also be doing this soon).

Whats the point of any of this? Not to criticize but I would like to know.

Help keep the motor cool while free up a few hp & gain a little more air flow to the motor.

Everything in the 1st post sounds great. You can keep the cel for the AGS away by having it tuned or look up a fellow on Facebook by the name of Jason Dauria who makes a nice billet attachment to allow the AGS motor to stay in its operating range

I finished it up yesterday. I did put the 180 in but don't have a tune yet. Talked to my dealer and they said they would take care of me no matter what mods I did but he did warn me that if I was out of town (got family in Bama) and had to go to another dealership I would probably get flagged and warranty voided. Seeing as how I only got 10 months left I thought I'd wait on the tune. This time next year we gonna see just what that puppy will do! Play it safe for now and go back with a 190? What y'all think?

Leave the clutch fan on till you get it tuned.Even if you put the V-6 fan on,it'll still use the stock parameters for On and Off,which is around 212F,so you'll run hotter then you do now if you remove the mechanical fan.Call it good till you get a tune, then do the electric fan swap .I run a 180 in my wifes totally stock 2016 Challenger, around town idling in rush hour it runs at the same temps as it did with the original 203F thermostat, but as soon as your moving at any decent speed it drops down to the 185F mark.

As it sits now I've got the mechanical fan off. V-6 fan on and the 180. Think I should put the mechanical fan back on with the V-6 fan? Or just change to the 190 or back to the stock thermostat? I understand the warranty thing but dang it! It's hard to have a HEMI and be told you can't get the most out of it!

If you're not tuned, odds are you'll run hotter then it did stock .The electric fan won't be programmed to come on any earlier ,so it probably won't kick on till you're at 212F or better.Leave the heater controls on defrost or A/C,and it should cycle the electric fan enough to keep it cool.Don't be changing the 180 t-stat if you've already installed it .If you're stuck on doing it the way you have, give up on your last 10 months of warrenty, and get it tuned as soon as you can.If you insist on waiting till your warrenty is up before getting it tuned, pull the V-6 fan back off, re-install the stock e-fan and mechanical fan along with the shroud,as you still have to get through next summer by the sounds of your warrenty. You kind of got carried away with putting the cart before the horse,if you don't plan on tuning it for another 10 months. You need to reset the fan parameters to turn the electric fan on earlier to gain anything

Being a 15 you'll need an unlocked PCM from either HP or Diablo before you can tune it. Apparently Diablo has started locking their PCM's so you only use a Diablo CMR tune with them, but HP's unlocked PCM is an unlocked PCM,which allows you to use any tuning platform you want.Talk to your tuner of choice and see what they recommend as your best option for you.

That was my next question. Recommendations on tuners. I am definitely not a fan of locked PCM's! I'll check em out. Thanks again! I'll keep ya posted. Btw I wonder would AlfaOBD allow the parameter change on the e-fan??

That I couldn't tell,i haven't really followed the AlfaOBD thread other then the odd tidbit, but it appears like it can do a fair bit,so I wouldn't be surprised if it would allow you change the fans settings.Be a question to ask in the thread that's for sure.

Don't look like I can. I guess I got three options. Tuner, go back to stock, or wire in a temp control switch. I'd have to study a little bit on the switch. Saw the switch on a you tube post. I don't know......

Leave the heater controls on either defrost or A/C,the fan should kick in then and run pretty well constantly.

I just performed the Diablo PCM exchange with an intune 3 (on sale on the diablo website). I had looked into HP but didn't want to deal with the hassle of mailing the PCM to a different time zone for unlocking, and pay for shipping both ways Also just pulled off the clutch fan and just running the Electric AC fan. I set the temp for it to kick on from 221 to 207 to closely match the 204 thermostat. For a generic canned tune, the 91 octane jammer CAI tune on makes a huge difference. My ram went from grain truck to muscle car.

Cool! I'll look in to that. You change to the V-6 fan? I have, and removed the mechanical fan. No tune so far but running nice and cool now. I know I'll have to tune before summer for sure. You swapped PCM with them or you still got your original?

I'm doing the PCM exchange as I didn't see the need to keep the original PCM and wanted to keep costs down. The instrument information such as mileage, oil change analysis is stored in the cluster. I don't really use the dealer for maintenance and I'm not really in fear of warranty breakdowns on a domestic rig.

Diablo makes it super easy as they ship it with 2 day shipping and give return postage to use within 14 days. Ultimately Diablo was more cost effective for me than going HP as originally I wanted to keep the original PCM and have it unlocked. If HP was more local to me to save on the shipping and reduce downtime for unlocking the PCM, I probably would have went that direction.

Currently using the factory AC fan only. It does the job by itself in the Pacific NW and I'm not doing any towing. However, I'm going to install the Pentastar V6 PWM fan, a 190 thermostat in the next couple weeks, and get a custom tune.
