This is after they replaced my lifters and cam at 11k miles. Is this a normal Hemi tick or something else ?

It has dealer supplied synthetic blend 5w20

if normal I’ll just run some redline if not I Need to get this fixed.

After sounds more normal but I’m still trying to figure out the difference between the tick and bad lifters/exhaust manifold bolt being broken noises as I’m newer to Rams. After the swap sounds a lot like my truck right now but I haven’t gotten in and checked my exhaust manifold bolts yet. I’m hoping a more experienced guy chimes in for you.

The "after" is a very light metallic tapping that sounds like maybe one lobe or lifter. I would venture to say if you are hearing a more rapid ticking similar to injectors that would be normal as long as it isn't loud like (lack of oil causes this). However what concerns me is that it sounds like just one.

The dealers will say that an exhaust manifold bolt will sound like air associated with the tick but i don't think that is always the case.

Cshaffer, remember me? Truck is sounding a lot better. I'd say normal.... but run some 5w30 PYB like I said before see if it's quieter. Then put some miles on her and get a UOA. Is the engine fully warm in the video? Either way I think it sounds fine.

That is exactly what my truck sounds like at normal operating temp. That is with 154K miles on it.

First off use 5w30 It still sounds a bit loud for the mileage def lifter noise not manifold but drive it a bit 2k miles or so and see what happens. Mine makes a lot of noise not as loud but i have 200k on mine lol..

sounds normal to me, all I hear is injectors, better then other video for sure. You can still run redline if you want, but sounds good.

thanks , you may have heard it but if you listen really close there is one tick that is separate from the injectors . Easier to hear in person

I just listened to it a couple times with my super duper noise canceling headphones, you are good. If you feel like it you can take a longer one at warm idle, but you don't have hemi tick. Redline 5w30 is still a good choice to protect that cam going forward, but lifters are fine man.

thanks again I’m gonna sleep a little better now. I’ll monitor it and definitely do redline regardless .
