Well, just short of 5 yrs. on the factory battery, I replaced it with an H8 AGM from SAMS in January. Mid Feb. would have been 5 yrs. So far, I have not had any problems with temps below freezing for days and a few days in the low single digits. I did not program anything, just installed the battery and off and running I went. I did read several topics on several forums before buying the battery. But on the morning I bought the battery, my factory battery gave me a fair warning of barely starting. So I headed the warning and promptly replaced it. No problems so far.

You may still have problems down the road W/ IBS, read through this entire thread, allot of good ideas here!!
What is IBS? I have read the entirety of this thread, many other threads on this forum, threads on other forums dealing with similar topics, and the other thread that was mentioned with AlphaOBD settings questions that were not addressed. I am more than willing to make the changes in the settings as I have the equipment, but lack the knowledge. I am appreciative of any further guidance that others are willing to provide me on this topic, as I want a long and healthy relationship with my truck/battery as my truck is my sole form of transportation.
Thanks in advance. :)

Thank you for the information. I downloaded both files and read them both.
Do all 5th-gen 1500 trucks have this part/function?
I have a plain Jane Hemi, aka no E-tourque or stop-start function.
Are these documents possibly referring to the 48V battery for the E-Tourque system?

Once again, thank you for the information, as I am still learning how these trucks work, this is the reason why I am a member of several forums on this truck is to learn.

You know, you could answer your own question in 30 seconds by opening the hood and looking at the battery and connectors. You learn a whole lot more doing stuff for yourself. Most of us learned long before the internet or YouTube, and hands on experience is still the best way to learn.

This is not a hybrid specific item. Not sure what year IBS was put into the various models of our pickups but it is bone simple to see if you have it.

As Dean mentioned, open the hood and look at the negative battery post, you will know instantly.

The weather is too foul for me to walk out to the barn to snap a pic. Instead, sitting by the wood stove, I found examples on my PC.

AFAIK, they have been using the IBS sensors for many years on all models of Ram trucks.

IBS 3.0 3rd gen 45° pole clamp.jpg

The IBS on my 4th gen truck is one of the last 2 pics. I know tb56 has an IBS on his plain Jane 2019 5th gen too. We both have a Hemi with no E-Torque or as Mike always says, no E-Junk here.

Good of you to look up pictures but the pdfs I posted have the same pictures. That was why I was a bit annoyed that he didn't at least go look at his own setup.

Yes, I figured as much.

I wanted to expose the pictures for those who are using a phone and ignore attachments or are just too lazy.

Then they have even less of an excuse.

The IBS sensor was implemented in 2013 when they adopted the thermal management system on the trucks.
Your 8 speed will also have it's own thermostat, seperate from the engines thermostat.
Caulk04 makes a bypass for the transmission thermostat.
