Ok, so currently I have the Superchips 3815 on my truck. Old school, I know... So, I am lookin at gettin the Diablo U7137 for my truck. When I get it, do I have to return my truck to stock on the Superchips and then install the Diablo?

I would, so that you have the stock flash on your tuner just in case.

Not sure if you technically have to.

I wouldn't do a dsp with your truck unless you are camming it. 04's have 0 trans tuning available. Better off switching to the 3865 or cortex tuner from SC. If you are camming it, id still switch to the sc3865 and pick up a SCT and stack them.

^So shall it be written, so shall it be done. Ryan hit the nail on the head with your current mods you will benifit more from a SC, down the road if you go cammed or with heads then the DSP might look better but that being said a SCT from Hemifever with unlimited updates is the best bang for the buck. CMR tuning through DSP gets expensive quick from what I gather.

If it's anything at all, I recommend the 3865. I am running it now and love it.

To answer your question, yes you have to flash it back to the factory tune whenever you switch programmers otherwise you will go to go program it with the new programmer and it won't be able to back up the factory tune (since it won't be there), which is what programmers are designed to do, not back up other programmer's tunes.

X 2 on the 3865. I had the U7137 on my Truck and after 2 weeks I removed and its gonna be for sale locally. If you really want custom Tuning go this route (DSP like Ryan said) but IMO you prolly need that to get the power it'll give you. I love my SC3865 hands down and as for custom tuning with SC you have the stacking option mentioned by the Guys or in my case 03 there is the PSC1-003 :********: that will rid the Misfire Cells caused by in my Case a Cam.

The Cortex is very "Pretty" ! (J/k cause can't be used really on the 03 Model)!

Either will work. I think the cortex has a few extra features.

On a side note, you can custom tune with the DSP and get the unlimited tuning option from Hemifever for the same price as his tunes via the SCT (thats what I did with mine). BUt I havent very good things with stacking the DSP and SC.

I don't really have a reason I was just gettin the hint that that's what I needed to go with instead of the DSP

No wait on the sct until you are ready to do a cam, you need the sc3865 first then when you get a cam pick up the sct. The sct is basically worthless without a custom tune and you don't need that yet

That's cool but i would wait until you go with a cam first. Just FYI that SCT does not have transmission options and if you go with Seans unlimited tuning package then the SCT will arrive with zero canned tunes but a single base tune per your mods and communications to Sean prior to purchase. Until then i would just stick with SC3815 or go with DSP and Cortex/3865 if you are looking for something now.

Yeah... i mean the 3815 aint bad at all i was just tryin to get another one in mind so if i find one for kinda cheap I can go ahead and buy it. Is there a big diff in the 3815 to the 3865? Performance wise?

From what I have heard, the advanced trans tuning with the 3865 is suppose to be worth its weight in gold. I love it with the DSP but you dont have the option with your year on on the DSP.

Chosing a Tuner can be overwhelming but uprading from 3715 to 3865 you'll love it and there are plenty of Cams that will run on the Canned 91 as well.

Call me Crazy but I may even go back to my 6.1 Cam SC3865 combo as there were rarely any codes popping up!
