Yep. Marketplace is screwed up.

Not many of us buying. Carlos cranked pricing for short term profit gouge without any customer benefit, then paid millions to leave after sales plunged.
Meanwhile, Tim returns as the latest Iacocca to save Chrysler. How they've survived so many buyers is beyond me.
Remains to be seen if buyers will return to a 25 year old engine series. If only they had invested in a modern V8 instead of the Hurricane w h I z motor, like Ford and GM did.

I have owned a 5.4 Ford. Total POS. My Dad had a 4.6 in a Mercury sedan, and it got worse MPG than the full-sized wagon with a 302 it had replaced. GM's current engines are not exactly stellar either, eating cams etc., and I will avoid GDI as long as possible.

Neither Ford, Stellantis, Nissan, Subaru, or Honda is even in the top ten auto brands, lol.. HEHE.

Car company
Market capitalization*Position change*
1. Tesla Inc. (TSLA)$1.37 trillion↔+0
2. Toyota Motor Corp. (TM)$237 billion↔+0
3. Xiaomi Corp. (OTC: XIACF)$116 billion↑+5

5. Ferrari NV (RACE)$78 billion↓-1
6. Porsche Automobil Holding SE (OTC: POAHY)$57 billion↔+0
7. General Motors Co. (GM)$56 billion↑+3
8. Mercedes-Benz Group AG (MBG.DE)$55 billion↓-3
9. Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW.DE)$49.2 billion↓-2
10. Volkswagen AG (OTC: VWAGY)$48.8 billion↓-1
So shot across bow today, in an effort to make this list more friendly to US car makers, cars not made here will be 25% tariff today, pure ouch for them? So what two or three of these makers will be exempt as they build at least some here? Tesla, Volks, GM, and Toyota likely wont have to pay, two others don't even sell cars here I think, so basically this is literally going after one country? Germany, maybe South Korea. This will be a huge increase on the sticker. in the market for a German car do it now?

Might be the most destructive thing we have seen on the auto front? More reason to stick to older models anyhow.

Idk what the definition of "made here" means.
Final assembly is ~10% of the cost of a vehicle.

The value is in the parts. For military generators, most parts by COST had to be sourced in the U.S. which meant at least the engine.

Maybe Ram needs this, made in USA truck, might save brand?

Let's face it 25% on Ram's built elsewhere forcing massive sticker increase would sink the ship that is already listing badly.

Technically if an auto maker has to put out 25% in cash per unsold vehicle, then they will have to make a return on it as well. So technically if financial principals are followed, it will be around 35% increase on MSRP. We are talking 28k increase on an 80k ram. They have zero chance at that, meaning future ram will be built here period, or fold tent.

im surprised Pennzoil isn't on the voting list because to my knowledge its the only one that carries the Chrysler spec on the back of the bottle, thats what i use.

See the updated syn thread that is a sticky, it has relevant numbers. Pennzoil is number one here and m1 is number 2, both carry spec now.

Honestly the only thing I would miss in an older vehicle is the ability to stream music via bluetooth from my phone and a backup camera. But you can get an aftermarket head unit that would add both of those to an older vehicle.

If I had a 12V swapped 2500 Squarebody Suburban with that head unit and I'd be a happy guy.

Dont say that man, I was just looking at the excursion they had for sale here the other day. V10 too. If I ever get rid of the rav 4, it will be to trade both "my" vehicles and get something like an excursion.

Keep forgetting about those, I would want the 7.3 in that.

Nah I'd want that 12V swapped too lol

The lowest weighted ford excursion is over 6k pounds, that dog hunts all day long. I'm surprised they limit out at 10k pounds towing, they can surely handle more. There must be a reason for that in the minutia.

Maybe since you cant put a 5th on there, they are limited to what you can put under the bumper?

That or manu's gearing.

I've always found that Ford has the best sounding V8s IMO. They always sounds very clean, deep bass tone, more than what I've heard from Chevy or Dodge.
And for the size, the power output was better. Recently saw a video on Powernation Engine master on a comparison in between the SDF and SBC. SBF made more power despite being smaller. That said, I still prefer a Hemi.

GMs engine issues are pretty much exactly due to the very same reason we have issues with our Hemi V8s - using thinner oils for long intervals. IMO, switch those engines out to a good 5w30 or 0w40 and change the oil every 5000kms (approx 3000 miles) and they should be good.

I don't know if this would get me banned, but Yes, I am one of those guys that put a 10 inch android head unit in my truck and honestly, I'd say it has been one of the best things I did. The large screen looks factory fit makes viewing maps and navigation easy and the number of apps to play my stored music is good.
If you have one of those units, get the DUB Music player.

I've had good experience with them on all my vehicles that honestly, I would recommend it to anyone.

The 4.6 in the big cars were pretty good. I had a 98 town car I drove long distance for a while and it was about as good as my 97 2.3 5 spd ranger and that thing sipped gas. As far as the 5.4 the entire first generation mod motors were trash. They got it right with the Harley/Lightning motor. It also seemed like the luxury cars were better built as well. Gen 2 5.4 3v you are right to a point. The early ones 04-early 05 didn’t seem to have those issues. They were few and far between. I bought a 04 brand new when they switched over mid year. I never had any of the issues that followed that engine. I did have a transmission let go around 72k, but Ford replaced it under warranty. That was back in the 100k mile power train days. I am a firm believer on maintenance from day 1. I tend to be over cautious with when I change my oil. I have always ran good oil and filters in my vehicles. I run super in them. I change the fluids and do any maintenance that is needed when it’s time. Knock on wood I have never had any issues that were related to something like that. I don’t trust oil or filters past a certain point 6k usually. It used to always be 3k. I’ve seen the test results with the oil and filters with their longevity, I just waste money knowing that I can sleep at night lol.
