I remember reading about the 3V Triton 5.4 at work via trade mags. We didn't use those for N.G. & L.P. gens, we used the V6 & V10.

It was a great idea, validated through testing, to add an intake valve to get better power without forced induction. Leave it to Ford to fuch it up and make the spark plug unchangeable.

Messico? They also make the super complex hurricane engine, what could possibly go wrong? I would have rather seen engines built in Canada, the 351c and 351w are perfect example, as in the nucks Windsor was just as good as the Cleveland. Mind you my number one goal for my engine is reliably and not performance. So I prefer the 351w over the 351c, the nucks made that engine for 30 years. In 1969 that engine was in 5 muscle cars, mustang, Torino, cougar, Fairlane, and galaxies. Well 3 muscle cars and two whatever :)

The early small chamber Cleveland heads worked good on the 400M's,had some experience doing that back in my Ford days, lol. The Windsor was the better engine of the 2 as far as street engines went in my opinion.

Hmm fellas Dodge coming back to nascar and now this,,,

Car and driver published yesterday.

This is not the first time we've heard talk of the Hemi V-8's return. Earlier this month, an alleged leaked document and subsequent report said that the Ram 1500 TRX is coming back, along with the 5.7-liter and 6.4-liter Hemi engines.

Ok for real are we about to witness the making of rams great again? Dodge rumor is for one or two years they will be in the truck series only. They are going to have to have an actual stock car to enter cup, toyo has the Camry, Ford the mustang, NASCAR is allowing Chevy to use the Camaro but Chevy will have to figure out that deal soon, so expect dodge to have something similar in their lineup. Might be a move back for hemi ram and a new muscle car?
I think the new charger would look great in nascar. Im getting back into it this year actually

Pretty sure GM peaked with their modern V8s with the non AMF 4.8/5.3/6.0s. I've seen so many of them out there with well over 200k with nothing but maintenance. The 5.3s went to sh it when they put AFM on. Now they have DFM. Look that up when you have a chance, it makes MDS look simple.

The ford 4.6 2V and the 5.4 2V were decent. Not exactly power houses but they were decent. My 03 Mustang was pretty damn fun to drive with a 4.6/5 speed and I never had a single problem with it. We had older work vans at my last job with 5.4 2Vs in them. They were abused and idled for hours a day and they just kept going. The 5.4 3Vs are where all the timing component failures started and its really where the 5.4 got a bad rep. Kinda the beginning of the end IMO for Ford V8s. I liked the 5.0 until they ruined them with the belt driven oil pump.

How do you think the Hemi guys figured out what not to do when they were first starting to changed the plugs in the 4th gens lol

I agree here with GM. Those were some damn good motors. I was told by my service guy in late 04 that I need to only run Motorcraft synblend in it and their filter. There is something about a modern Ford and that combo. I have away from that even with being advised to at least stay with the filter if I switched to M1. I sold it with 193k on the clock. Never having any timing component issues. I think a lot of people did like they do with the hemi trucks and just put whatever with whatever filter at whatever oil station is the cheapest and has the shortest line. I am not saying automakers don’t make mistakes, but the owners are lazy and want convenience at a cheap price.

Remember when there was but 2 or 3 production cars that could go 200mph? Well, now 300 is the new 200- all these cars over or at 300mph. What will happen a decade from now, 400 will be the new 200, lol. btw, the second car reportedly has the same top speed as the nhra speed record in the 1/4 mile at 330mph, although nhra will get there a tad faster, top end speed is the same.

Yeah, for sure that is what I was thinking of when I said 400mph on horizon, for sure that will be an EV first.

The thing that got my attention is how fast it was still accelerating at 400+ km's/250mph,it looked like it still had more in it,when he shut down the test
When you move here next month you will have to check out Bonneville, you know about the US salt flats? I would bet you know..

The current world land speed record for an electric vehicle (EV) is 353 mph, set by Revolt Systems and Team Vesco at the Bonneville Salt Flats on October 1st, 2021.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  • The Record:
The record-breaking EV, powered by dual Tesla drive units controlled by EV-Controls T2C, achieved an average speed of 353 mph.

  • The Venue:
The record was set at the Bonneville Salt Flats, a famous location for land speed record attempts.

  • The Team:
Revolt Systems and Team Vesco collaborated to achieve this record.

  • The Technology:
The car used dual Tesla drive units controlled by EV-Controls T2C, and the team analyzed data from previous runs using the T2C dash app's datalogging features.

  • The Record-Breaking Run:
The team beat the existing record by a large margin, reaching speeds as high as 357 mph.

  • Other Notable EV Land Speed Records:
    • In 2010, the Venturi Buckeye Bullet, a student-built electric vehicle from Ohio State University, achieved an average speed of 307.7 mph.

    • The Venturi Buckeye Bullet 3, also from Ohio State University, set a new international record in 2015 with an average two-way speed of 240.320 miles per hour.

    • EV West and Hickey Speed teamed up to break the Electric Vehicle E2 Class land speed record at Speed Week 2020 on the Bonneville Salt Flats.

I know, in my defense I said ten years.

I like going to the drags, a few years back I was there when the nhra army car set the record at that time 325mph. I am amazed a production car can go that fast, maybe horrified is a better description.
