My old 2002 Dodge Ram with the 4.7l V8 has started to stumble lately. She ain't throwing a check engine light, but after doing a little research I suspected my throttle body might be dirty. Seeing as it had never been cleaned it turned out to be a good guess. I was all set to pull it out yesterday and clean it till I got to one of the linkage cables. The accelerator cable is a breeze to disconnect. The one just to the right of it, not so much. Attached is a picture of the 2 cables. I'm asking about the linkage just above the throttle return spring. I think I'm supposed to just pry it apart, but since it didn't just pop off I was afraid of breaking it.

Can someone chime in with how to get this linkage apart?

I haven't had to do a 4.7 before as my dad's didn't need it, but I'd wager you just pull and slide them out of their catches.

open the throttle by hand, and rotate the cable toward the front of the engine. There is a slot in the bellcrank and when the slot is aligned with the cable it can be slid out the side of the bellcrank

Thanks again NYCruiser! My ride has been babyed most of her life. We bought her brand new in October of 2002 and at the time, it was the nicest vehicle we had ever owned. She had a place of honor in the garage until 2012 when I convinced my wife that she needed a new vehicle that was a little nicer. So I bought her fully loaded Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland with the Hemi. My wife insisted that we keep RED1 as she couldn't bear to part with her old ride. Since I wanted a more permanent boat hauler, RED1 was just what the doctor ordered. She still has her original dash, thanks to being a garage queen and a little over 70,000 miles. Since her lot in life is to pull my boat, she sees very limited miles these days.

So here she is.....
