I have a 2010 CTD SLT that has 72K miles, no rust and the interior shows like new.

I need it (or something like it) to tow a boat/trailer, so I can't just get rid of it. I would be trading for a 2019+ RAM if I did.

It's still worth quite a bit and I'm wondering if I should trade it while it's still valuable or just hang on to it until it gets too expensive to fix?

What do you think?

Go check what they will give you for trade in....at least around here trade in values are higher than normal.

72k is nothing. With the truck in great condition, I would keep it too. And with trading it in you're not going to get what the truck is really worth.

If you own it outright then you have to ask yourself if you want a truck payment or not.

It won't hurt to check the value at KBB.com and see what it is worth as a trade in your area.

Values are up. My brother in law died two weeks ago and my sister in law asked me to take his truck to Carmax to see what it's worth. It's a 2010 F-150 extended cab 4X4 with 39k miles. Very good shape. Online she saw 12k to 14k. Carmax offered her 16k. Prices are way up.

I drove. My 2003 2500 that I bought new until last year. Loved it, still looks and runs great, my parents have it now. My vote, keep it if it runs good. But whichever you do, good luck.

There is a lady in my neigborhood driving a lexus suv with around 300000 miles. She asked me the same question and I told her she has a good one and to hang on. I just got out of a 2019 limited that was a disaster. Your trade may be down. What you have now is good. I do have a 21 now, well in transit. Had a Ram since 2005. Wished I'd kept my 05, Cummins. Learn from my mistake.

With that mileage and in great condition I would keep it and drive it till it disintegrates and is to expensive repair.
And with it being a 2010 it still has it's fair share of electronics on it but not as extreme as the 2016 to 2020 models have now

I’m in the keep it camp too, low mileage, no headaches and besides dealerships have a low trade in value to begin with and now with prices up where they would be if you sold it private party, you can always test that market if you’re resigned to get another truck, just my IMHO.

Does it see winter use? I know where I live, even if the vehicle looks rust free from 6ft away, at 10yrs old it's going to go down hill fast. Only way around that is if it was rust proofed yearly and you really kept up on coating chips and scratches.

Like said, trade-in values are insanely high now, but so is the cost for a new to you late model vehicle.

Given the current vehicular climate, I'd hang on to what you have if it's in great shape and doesn't need much.

I'd keep it unless you just "want" a new vehicle. lots of life left in your current truck.

And yeas, trade values are way up but so are new prices so while you may get more on your trade you will be paying more for a new one so in the end I think it's pretty much a wash.

Financially, it makes no sense to trade it for a new/er truck. It works for your needs, low miles, reliable... Now, if you can afford it, and you just "want" a new truck, then that's just up to you!

My 2011 isn’t leaving my possession any time soon. The new ones do absolutely nothing for me.

I wish I still had my 2010 CTD, it was deleted with a really clean tune and ran strong. I’d keep it if I were you, I already went down this road.........

I had a 2004 CTD with 146k until a year ago when I traded for a 16 Laramie crew cab and couldn’t be happier. I tow a 7000lb boat and the diesel towed it easily but the new truck does as well. I just wanted something that I could drive to work to save some miles on my car and have more back seat room. Other than common issues with 04 it was still a very good truck. Do whatever makes you happy and won’t regret.
