If they do write it off, get some comparable pricing for like-equipped models, and don't let them lowball you on the value.

If no frame damage, I would buy it back from Ins company and part it out. Or toss on a bed and drive it..

Looking at the first and second photos, it looks like the cab corner on driver's side took a hit as well.

Possibly the bed just broke lose and banged into the cab, since the bed isn't still contacting the cab. But impossible to determine from the pics.

Get it totaled then buy it back. Looks like a good candidate to turn into a flatbed work truck. Remove the bed, weld up a frame and line it with pressure treated lumber. You'd probably come out ahead $ wise.

Back in another life I have observed cab damage that was similar. The frame ended up being bent.

That's for your insurance company to decide. Hard to say w/o a detailed look below. The box they'd replace, the cab sheet metal should be able to be pushed/pulled out and repaired, if the door still opens ok. It's the other things we 'can't' see that can push it up over the edge.

That truck would be a nice 'rebuilder' for a body guy with paint/body skills, rather than sit in a bone yard and the remnants crushed. Someone could fix it and drive another 20 years. New boxes are easy to come by (maybe it only needs a box side??). Cab is an easy fix. Most shops are parts replacers now, but skilled guys can straighten the cab. I used to buy and re-do 'rebuilders' like that for yrs (redid them on the side). I know other paint & body guys who did also. Obviously we re-did them 'right' ...not scam/quickies. They looked like new when finished. Drive for a while, enjoy a pretty new vehicle, then sell to family or friends ...and onto the next one that was recently rebuilt. Buy another. Always had something in the hopper. You might find out what the buy-back cost on it is. Alert some of your skilled buddies/friends (or do yourself). Even if the frame is tweaked, they can be straightened/sectioned/replaced.

If it was repaired it would be with used box,to keep costs down IMO.It's repairable for sure,depends on the condition of the frame.Anything can be fixed but as you know they'll write it off if repairs cost comes close within the value of a 2021 truck with that mileage.It will be a close call I think.

Just had my 2024 hit and repaired - both diver side doors, B-Pillar, roof skin, diver side bed had to get new skin, floor section at b pillar all had to be replaced. Ins covered it all and did not total. Hit by another 2500 6.7 BTW.

Maybe quarter can be pulled but new gate is needed & bumper. Hope frame is ok

Well, hope your o.k. Probably soar. I was when I got hit. I hope who hit you had insurance. In Houston a big part of the time (see it on the news too) if they can still drive the vehicle they hit you with they'll hit the gas and tear more stuff up. Or they will just run away if the vehicle is in 3 pieces. Oh, and the gal that hit me left her purse when she boogied on foot.

I had a similar hit on other side they had to straighten the frame after all the work was done my tailgate never closed right and shop said they should have totaled it from the beginning it was a 9 month repair and was never the same.
