On MY 19 Bighorn, hand calculated, around town 13-19, on Highway 15-23. Got 22 overall in a 4050 mile trip (No E-Torque)

Btw, I am the third owner. The first owner lived in Georgia. Second, since 2013, lives here in Colorado Springs, as do I. Could there be an altitude / tuning issue going on? It sounds and runs great, maybe jumps into lower gear as soon as I touch the pedal sooner than I would expect. This is my first serious truck. I love it, but am a bit shocked; I should have done more research on the mpg but that ship sailed! I'm open to suggestions.. thanks

Yes altitude, driving habits, fuel, all play a part. I would have to research ref altitude, as I am not smart enuf to tell U what to do on that part, maybe a tune. But now U have a 2011, there have been a few refinements from 2011-2019. Yet I also read a lot of owners of 2018's report better mpg than on MY 19, so who really knows. Think a whole lot of it is your driving habits and fuel quality, any mods (like bigger tires/lift etc), but this all IMHO................

Oh yeah, that's all good stuff, thank you sir. I do have oversized 22 in wheels, aggrsv tires and 4" lift. I've got to find an alternative to the $180 an hour dealer rate for tune-ups, ect. Crazy..

Being a 6 speed hurts compared to most posting here most have 8 speeds. Being @ altitude hinders as well as the air is thinner and it takes more fuel to make the same amount of power in a NA application. The fact that it dropped after you used a cleaner could hint that you have a small leak somewhere which can be catastrophic since we are talking about fuel. I would also recommend you never use any of those treatments as most of them do more harm than good. You could always pick up a new set of injectors and see if it improves.

You can also try things that make the engine more efficient such as headers exhaust cai and a tune. Just let them know you are going for efficiency not performance. Depending on where you drive gears may be a good option. If you do a lot of city driving gears would benefit milage but will hinder it if you spend a lot of time over 55-60

Try not using premium. The manual recommends mod grade, with 87 octane "acceptable". Using a higher than necessary octane can actually hurt mileage sometimes.

I will top off my half full tank today with mid grade and take her for a run up the interstate. Btw, what about fuel quality in general? Winter gas? I've been buying mine from the King Soopers outlet for years, to get discount points, with no noticeable problems. I'm almost embarrassed to admit it because I do believe you get what you pay for. I've just never worried about 3 or 5 mpg before... live n learn. Shell, Conoco, Valero ??
Thx.

As someone that has a 5.7 with the 5 spd, I've been paying attention to the mpg since I got it. I don't think you're "driving like an a$$hole", but if you do much in town driving, that kills the mileage fast. I do ok on my regular 15 mile commute. I go in early and leave early so I miss most of the traffic, and there are only a few lights at each end of the ride. Bus as soon as I have to do any errands in town.... But as has been said, it's a big truck and it's not going to get huge numbers. But that doesn't stop me from trying.

Yeah I'm about 70/30 in town driving so the MPG is never great (oh well). I think the best I've gotten out of this beast is about 17mpg on a 1300 mile road trip from Michigan to Colorado towing about 2000 pounds and hauling another 500. I'm not worried, it's a blast to drive.

Using ethanol free I had a 25.8, 25.0, 24.9 and this was warm weather and doing some hyper-mileing. Currently using 10% ethanol my last 5 fills were 22.3/23.4/22.9/22.2/20.9 calculated with 80% hwy. The quad Ram is w/3.6/2wd/ARE cap/3.55 gears and 20'' wheels with 44# in the stock SRAs.

I'm waiting to see what the average MPG is when the trip odo reads 275 miles. I used to average, city/hwy, around 18.5. Slowly loosing mpg. Now at 17 to 17.5 by the end of the tank.

Post up your best MPG. List cab size, 2 or 4x4, and motor. Take a pic of the screen that lists time distance and mpg. Let's keep this clean by only posting those that have more miles in the trip than mpg. I'll start.

2018 ram Express 4x4 CC hemi.

2017 EcoDiesel best I have seen is 31.7 trip from Louisiana to Florida, Set the cruise at 72. Best city mileage I have seen is 22.4 in town only. The worst I have seen sitting in traffic all day is mid 17's.
