Just an fyi we used safelight on my fiances Nitro..had a chip in the windshield the size of yours. They arent all that great imo, the chip is still noticeable and is one big bump away from probably re-cracking! Just my opinion...

on large bumps, rock chip repair is a must. if you don't you will hit a bump and and your windshield will spider. safeliting it will atleast help prevent it from the spidering. legally you need to have it repaired, since it is in your driving view, its considered an obstruction of your view and therefore illegal. Now, on the positive side, talk to your insurance company, alot of insurance companies (depending on your level of coverage) will pay to fix the rock chip, that way they spend under 100 bucks today, so that you don't hit a bumper, have your windshield spider, and create a 10 car pile up that they have to pay for.

but what i would have done is pulled over, and talked to the guy on the lawn mower. i know over here, he can be legally charged with the cost of replacing the windshield since he wasn't using a chute near a road with traffic and was creating unsafe conditions for drivers and people walking down the road. i would have told him he is paying for it, if he disagreed, i'd call the cops. but stuff like that, i'm a bit of an a**hole.

Yay for Florida..if you have full coverage down here, windshield repairs are 100% paid by your insurance company with $0 deductible and no rate lifts.

Last time I had a cracked windshield it was my own fault. I was driving home from work and was stopped at a red light. For those that know me well, know that I am deathly scared of spiders...well, one of them ******** walked across my windshield right in front of me. I saw my wifes hairbrush laying in the seat and grabbed it and killed the *******...resulted in me also cracking my glass...
