A small 9/32 box wrench will come in handy to loosen the obstructed screw.
Removing the air vent also makes the replacement much easier.

So I got my UAQ from LKQ online today and before I install it I wondered if anyone knew how to get some minor scuffs out of the new type screen. I knew the screen had scuffs when I ordered it and that's why the price was extremely reasonable. They're not terrible but I thought if I could minimize them without damaging the screen I'd give it a try.
Thanks

You can replace the screen but I'd start with a screen protector.

Nope, nowheres near bad enough to need a screen. Do these need any special type of screen protector because I think they are a different type of conductor from as RA3 / RA4?

All the one's I've seen on eBay are listed a 2013-2018 and I thought there might be a difference with the new touch screens.

I wouldn't think so but I'm not sure...

Just got my UAS installed, and I noticed a couple issues, tried searching but couldn't find any specific answers. A few issues I've noticed since installing in my 2015 big Horn which had an RA4 in it.

First and most important my factory installed heated seats stopped working, the on screen buttons don't work, and the dedicated switches turn them on, but then they turn themselves off after a couple seconds.

2nd thing I noticed, the sync button no longer works in climate control, my truck has factory dual zone auto climate control.

3rd thing is the compass is no longer displayed on my premium evic, it's just 2 dashes now.

Any help with this issues would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I don’t have a UAS (just installed a RA3 in my ‘15) but in reading these radio replacement threads it seems you might need to replace your HVAC control module from the 15 model to the 18 model. The description should be in recent posts in this thread.

EDIT> see post 594

If you did not upgrade your HVAC module. See the attached post for more info. The new radios UAS/UAQ need new HVAC modules. They will not work with the old modules

Grabbing this one if needed.

If you are upgrading from a 3.0 or 5.0 radio to an 8.4 (13-17 Harmon or Panasonic. Not sure if anyone has confirmed the 8.4 conversion on an 18 truck), here's a link to the 8.4 conversion thread for details (start at post 2 & 3)...

- DIY: 2013+ RA3/RA4 8.4" Radio Conversion Upgrade.

------------------ 4/25/18 edit ------------------

Just an 'issue' update for those installing the UAQ/UAS radio in their truck...

We have a few reports:
See: Gibbs' .HVAC Issues w/UAS upgrade

A lack of 'full' heat after radio install using the previously recommended 13-17 HVAC modules from the earlier Ra3/Ra4 upgrade method. (Blend door not making full travel)

- Guido2112 's 17 1500 (fixed w/new module)
- Gibbs ' 18 2500 (fixed w/new 18 module)

** Ckleinfeld 's 15 1500 (used mod. didn't work). .See here

We can't confirm 100% yet until more people report back but we have identified the correct 18 HVAC modules ...
Code:
As DeereGuy stated, it appears that on 2018 trucks ...
- 68366552AA = 1500 trucks w/8.4 radios (MTC & ATC)
ie factory 7 speed fan (w/Variable Displacement A/C Compressor)

- 68366553AA = 2500/3500 trucks w/8.4 radios (ATC)
ie factory 4 speed fan (w/Sgl speed A/C Compressor)

Cost for each is in the $120-$130 range.

Also:
Here's how Sawz fixed the 2018 USB hub cutout issue on his earlier console.See here.

I installed this today UAQ today and don't have rear speaker volume. Last time I had the same problem with a UAS it forced an update and fixed itself. Any way to get it to update or do I just have to wait till it happens? Other than the rear speaker issue this thing is SWEET!!!!!

So i went outside i checked out my software version and whatnot, I'll attach the photo of this info. Playing with the radio some more found that NONE of the on screen climate control buttons work, i can only adjust temperature, fan speed, Auto mode with the physical buttons, I also found my rear defroster doesn't work. I push the physical button and it blinks a few times then shuts off much like the heated seats.

I understood going into this that certain buttons might not work on the radio, but the physical buttons should still work. That's not the case for me right now and i'm not sure how to fix this.

All these features all came stock with the truck, I used alfaOBD to double check, all these items are turned on in the BCM.

Did you replace the HVAC module? If not. That is your problem. Look a few post up to my reply to your first post

I did see your post about the HVAC module and i'll most likely end up getting an 18, but what i'm unclear on is if the HVAC module will correct my heated seats & defroster issue, those are my primary concerns ATM.

The HVAC modules is a “computer” that controls all heating. Ventilation and air conditioning systems in your vehicle.

All issues you describe are also there, if NO UConnect is installed in the car. I'd suggest to check the connectors again. Is it all connected properly? Maybe some of the contacts deformed? Is your unit connected directly to the car's harness or do you have any kind of adapter harness in there (vor rear cam or ves ..)?

HVAC and heated seats are not the same module or issue!!! A new HVAC module will not solve the problem with the heated seats as far as I know.

Harnesses is plugged in directly, no adapters, rear camera and Sirius are working fine.

Also I did order a new HVAC module since it sounds like I'll need one for the climate control to work properly.

Sorry, am I wrong here? My understanding of the issues is, that HVAC and heated seats are two different things. I'm testing the retrofit on a testbench and in my car since weeks now, checking CAN messages and CAN message conversion and the heated seats not had been a HVAC problem. If so, I apologize for the wrong information.

You are correct. Hvac and heated seats and wheel are two different things. The new hvac module should take care of his hvac controls issue, but what’s strange is his heated seats aren’t working properly even with the hard control buttons. I know infotainment sells a separate module for 2013-2014 trucks to get the soft buttons on the radio to work, BUT, he has a 2015 and none of his heated seat controls seem to be working.
