I love mine, loud fan and all. The height is great, almost like a 4X4. Bad ride but still like it and really can’t think of anything I don’t like. Just a hell of a truck, especially pulling any kind of a load. It is a mans truck. NUFF SAID.

I really don’t understand what is going on with the Titan tanks. The fuel tank on gas and diesel is the same part number, so the Titan tank should just work. Nobody has been gutsy enough to try it.

Per the Titan website, the tanks are not rated for gasoline.
Gasoline expands more than diesel, and per US department of Transportation regulations a fuel tank can only be filled to 95% capacity. With 55 gallons of fuel, gasoline expands .3 gallons more over a temperature change from 20°F to 100°F
The tank will most likely hold gasoline just fine, but it's not legally rated to hold gasoline. The problem that could arise would be if your in an accident and people get injured/killed from a fuel spill.

The way these things suck fuel, that’s only a mile down the road.

Dropped this in a thread in the 5th gen section. WTH, thought I'd post it here too. I got the chance to drop into a RAM dealer yesterday. They had some of the new 2019's on the lot so I was curious to how they looked in person. Front end has that bold, wider appearance. From the windshield back looked the same to me as far as body. The tailgate spoiler is flat. Shouldn't hold water and give folks a sudden bath. So, the salesman seen what I was driving, asked me how I liked it. I said its a good truck, have had a crap-ton of updates and recalls, but except for the transmission gap when towing its doing ok. He went and pulled out a new Black Appearance Package 3500 CCSB with the 6.4. Damn beautiful truck if your into the black thing. Looked at the sticker, it had 4.10's, oh, goody... it also said $63K'ish...loaded. Yeah, it had the big 12" tall center stack inside. Its neat, I guess, if you want a big TV look in the center of your dash. Its not for me, I'd do just fine with the smaller 8.4 screen. EVIC was refined, very detailed, smaller fonts than my current 7" EVIC display in my 2014.

Been driving my 6.4 since June of 2014. I reached for the transmission stalk...whoops...you ********...the frickin' dial is right in front of you..lol. Pulled out of the lot and was easy on it but there was more there than what I'm used to. Went 2 miles and pulled up onto the on ramp onto I-80 where this speed limit is 80. I looked in the rearview and nobody was there so I stopped. Figured out how to show my top gear of 8 in the EVIC quickly, and punched the accelerator. So...there wasn't an immediate thrust, think there's a touch of torque management going on and its new, but that truck picked up in a hurry from what I'm used to, caught 2nd gear and there was this nice push in my seat, and just as that was tailing off it picked up 3rd and pulled hard to 4th and soon we were on the interstate at 70 mph. A big truck cleared out of my way and 80 mph was there in a hurry. Had about a 3 mile run down the interstate and for a short box 3500 gasser it road pretty damn good on the hard concrete pavement from what I've experienced in other 3500 4th gens.

Took some rural roads back. It was a fun 15 minutes. On my short drive, the 8-speed delivered the acceleration I thought it would behind the 6.4. Am I going to trade my current 2014 on a brand new 2019 right now....no. If I didn't have a 6.4 now and wanted a new RAM,would I go buy a new one, HELL YES! Looking forward to some towing reviews too.

Thanks for typing that up. I would probably be in the same boat as you, sweet rig if I didn't already a 6.4L.......but not so compelling an upgrade to make me want to start over on payments. I'll own mine real soon and with only 42K miles on a Longhorn I'll sit and enjoy this one for a while to come.

I've got the 17 tradesman and love everything about it. I agree the engine fan does suck, may get an electric fan later. Have a CAI on the way for it. Load yes but I like to hear my trucks lol. To be honest this is the nicest truck I've ever owned.

I never hear my fan either. I put an aftermarket muffler on mine, so I typically hear exhaust. If i dont want to listen to exhaust, I just turn up the radio. It is just the way I like it.

bought a new 2018 in February of this year. So far I love it. I have the 8 ft bed so my golf cart fits in the back. My TT weighs about 9K lbs. It pulls it with no problems. I get 9-10 mpg towing here in Texas. I get 13-14 mpg in the city and I averaged 17 mpg driving back from Houston yesterday. I knew the mileage was going to be an issue before I bought it so I can't call it a con. I have no complaints!

Those numbers are about right in my 4-5 years of driving the 6.4.

Enjoy

I have had my 2018 Tradesmen 2500 with the 6.4 and 4.10 gears for just over a year now. I have around 13k on it. I pull a 32ft RV that loaded weighs around 7k. It pulls very good and compared to to my previous vehicle (2013 GMC Sierra) I don't feel stressed out by the time I get to my destination. It handles really well and I get around 9-9.5 towing here in Florida. My GMC was rated to pull 9700 lbs but the payload was very low, I think around 1600 lbs. I have had the same WD hitch setup on both trucks and set them up the same. The Ram is by far a more comfortable ride. We went through Hurricane Micheal in October last year and we headed out of town at 5 AM the day of hurricane and before I got back to the house with the RV, I put about 2500 miles on it. We kept working on getting closer to home with the camper as places opened back up. We traveled interstates, highways and back roads. The whole time I had a smile on my face. I didn't have to stress about semi's passing me or the wind like I did in my previous truck. Without the camper I got around 12 mpg, hand calculated, in town and 16 on the highway. Now I and getting around 13 in town and 17 on the highway. I have no regrets getting the 6.4 over a diesel. It suits my situation just fine. If we do upgrade our RV it won't be anything over 10k. I do agree the gas tank is too small sometimes. I was carrying 10 gal of gas with me after the hurricane because when I got closer to the storm area most gas station where closed or had super long lines and limited the amount of gas you could get. For awhile I was driving 300 mile round trips to the house and back to the RV. If we did any driving around in between I needed a few gallons just to make it back at the end of the day. Overall it has performed exactly how I thought it should and am very happy with it.

Still getting intermittent P0456 code, so changed the test pump on the charcoal canister.

I have a pretty heavy 5th wheel, around 13k and mine does great on flat ground It actually towed well from GA to WV until I got into the steeper, longer grades here in WV. (Plus I was living in the rv, so I had a lot more junk packed away making me closer to probably 14 or 15k loaded for that one trip).

I will be gearing for added grunt while towing, but overall, I only tow 5-6 times a year. I couldn't justify the Cummins price right now for that little towing. I'm pretty happy with my 6.4 right now

I changed gas stations, and mine went away.

Interesting. My issue has been that it is so intermittent, every time I make a change it may go for months without throwing it, so I declare victory, only to have it pop up again. Not a big deal, just annoying.

Yep 2018 2500 6.4. We have 3 in our truck group. When outside temp exceeds 85-95 in city driving, the engine cooling fan comes on. They are in fact "louder" than my previous trucks. I have looked at electric thermo fans and will probably go that way later this year. When I first noticed the fan noise I thought water pump, alternator or AC compressor. Nope it is the pitch of the fan blades.

They are loud but do they make electric fans that will cool a 6.4 under load and at high altitude?
