I would probably put up a stink about this issue also, if you specifically built a truck for yourself it dam well better be exactly what you want , I guess if it was me, the only other way I'd except a truck that I built that wasn't exactly what I wanted would be--- if they massively discounted the truck, but with that being said there's some things that no discount would sway me from, example, if I wanted a 5.7 and it was built as a v6 lol...

I agree the 3.92 with limited lock is the best way to go much better pull and power - for that much $$$ get what you want your paying for it

I built and ordered a 2019 Ram 1500 My must have options were 5.7 4x4 with 3.55 rear end ratio. I did the build with the salesman obviously and I noticed his build program didn’t have options available for the rear end gear ratios like when I did the build at home (3.55-3.92) so I asked why and was told and shown on the salesman’s computer that the 3.55 rear end ratio is standard for my build package. Now I picked up my truck last Thursday and immediately noticed my truck has a 3.21 not the 3.55 and asked the salesman and manager wtf happened so we replicated the build and once again their computer says a 3.55 is standard. The dealership and fca are in contact at the moment and I’m wondering if they’re going to replace and change my gear ratios (front/back) or build me another truck. What do you guys think will happen?
I ordered 2015 Ecodiesel Longhorn
4wd, Rambox, Air suspension
3.92 rear axle
I made sure notes were made on the order sheet , with all my options.
Stand firm , make them make it right it you can show how it was ordered .

AFAIK, only 3.21 and 3.92 RARs are available with the V8.

3.55 would've been perfect, but it's only available on the V6 models.

This is correct. Since the DT (5th gen) was released, the 3.55 axle ratio has never been an option with the Hemi and you can't build it that way on the Ram website. The dealer is clearly at fault.

Yes, similar to what OP did. But reality is you may very well not get that since the 3.55, Hemi, 8 speed combination has not been valid for a long time (if it ever even was)

I've had a 3.21 in my '16 and a 3.92 in my '19, both with the 5.7. Highway and interstate mileage is better with the 3.92, stays in 8th gear more on hills, etc. Also response is better with the lower gear.

Agreed. I would say at this point the conclusion would be that you WON'T get the 3.55 (and you will get stuck with the 3.21's) if you order it that way, and that it is an error on the website and the dealer isn't catching it or doesn't care to. Seeing is believing, I'll believe it when there's actual proof of this setup being out there somewhere. And it wouldn't surprise me to have some people saying they have that setup, and if so I'd be very interested to check out their build sheet.

Definitely appears to be an error only on the Canadian site, we can't build them that way on the U.S. site and I wasn't able to find any setups like this on any Canadian trucks when actually looking up their build sheets. Every single one of them were either 3.21 or 3.92.

Now of course I didn't look at every ram in Canada, so I could be wrong on this but again I'd have to actually see one that exists first to believe it's not being offered in error.

Right. You were building a Ram Classic, which is a DS. Can't do that on a DT.

I built and ordered my truck.. I was supposed to get 3.21... ended up with 3.55. I didn't even know until the first oil change when I seen the sticker on the diff.

Better off than a co worker of mine.. he had a 3.92 in the back and a 3.55 in the front.. first time in 4LO the diff got so hot it almost caught fire!!

Just out of curiosity, what engine and trans do you have? And are you in the U.S. or Canada? And that's pretty crazy about your coworker, that must have been quite the unpleasant surprise.

I checked at 2 dealerships in my city and the only 5.7 4x4 3.55s were 6spd autos and there was only 2 like that out of 100 trucks. I think technically the V8 Ram 1500 standard equipment is the 6spd auto and 3.55 rear end but because you can only build with a 8spd now the standard 3.55 is still listed when it shouldn’t be.

I agree, certainly seems to be what is happening.

So, if they are holding conversations then that's the start. Coming from dealership background u will get a couple of options. 1) they will try and make u some kind of a offer to take the truck they built. 2) they will build u a new truck and give u up to 5k in compensation (that's the most they can offer you). They will, one way or another, make it right. Did u take delivery of the new truck?? If u did, that's not a big deal either. They will just do a buy back if u did. My son ordered his after I ordered and received mine. He ordered a blacked out Laramie crew and they forgot his black wheels. 5 months later the shipped his wheels because they ran out from the vendor. At no charge, they replaced his wheels and tires. I say this to say they will take care of u.

I have a 2015 RAM 1500 with 5.7, 8-speed, and 3.21 gears. It tows great and gets great gas mileage when not towing. When towing, it can stay in 5th, 6th, or 7th depending on load (wind drag & weight). The 8-speed has such a low 1st gear, it works great with the 3.21 gears.
