Did you go with 5w20 or 5w30?

5w20 for this change and the next. When amazon had the 5qt jugs on sale I bought 3. I will switch to 5w30 in the spring when the factory 5yr warranty is up. I’ve read that the 30 weight shears down to 20 pretty quick but I want to play it safe with the warranty.

Some guy just did a 10k mile run on redline 5w30 and the uoa was slightly over 12.5 = zero shear. A couple posts back.

OK after 46 years of driving doing own oil changes I never had an oil analysis performed for any of my vehicles. Thanks to this forum i have since learned of the dreaded hemi tic. No i dont have it yet.....and i dont want it. Truck has about 7250 mi on it. At 2500 mi i changed out the factory oil with PUP 10w30. I perform my changes at 6000-6500 mi and do a tire rotation at the same time. Will have this OC tested and see how the PUP performed. Im going to tweek the next OC using PUP 5w30 and a moly additive Liqi Moly MoS2. The add may be snake oil.....will find out after second test.

Hope i can give some good readings to others but my OCI is almost 8 months.

Try adding only a few ounces, not the entire bottle. PUP is a great choice, and don't worry about hemi tick until you got it. The main way to avoid it IF possible, keep fresh oil. How are those 7250 miles, mostly freeway? If you do a lot of town driving, maybe shorten that up a bit, keep those needle bearings clean. Lubegard is a moly substiture that isn't powdered moly in suspension like mos2, you can add more without worrying about it.

I probably drive about 50/50. Iam going to drop from 10w to 5w this time. I dont know if there is a difference in moly content of these 2. I will take your advise and use a portion of the add. That sounds like a good plan. Oh by the way I always turn OFF the MDS.
Is the add you speak of lubeguard bio/tech engine treatment?

Here is my latest report running redline 5w30 with a RP Filter. Either I wrote the wrong mileage or they couldn't read my handwriting, it should be 9,202 miles.

What was that last oil and weight? I would bet now after the first uoa the numbers will even get better.

This is the first time running it, and yes I used a 10-48 this change, though I switched to a 20-820 after changing my oil this time.

Thanks, I switched to that same combo but I haven’t done an analysis with it yet

My last mix before this was 5 qts PUP 5w30 mixed with 2 qts 5w20 and some liquimoly. The report full report is somewhere in this thread. Again I was using a RP 10-48 that time as well

2017 Lone Star, 27k miles, sent my sample yesterday via UPS. Had 3 months 4800 miles on the sample, 5w-20 Valvoline Synthetic blend. Will post up results when I get them back if I can figure out how lol.
