Known Issues[/B]

Radio Soft Keys for the Heated/Vented Seats and Heated Wheel will not work on 2013 and 2014 trucks (They will be on the screen but will be grayed out).

Radio Soft Keys for the Heated/Vented Seats will be missing on trucks that added factory heated/vented seats.

Settings menu may not reflect correct setting options on 2013 trucks.

Backup Camera button may be missing on 2016 and 2017 trucks. (Camera will work when in reverse, button on radio is missing).

There is no way to factory reset a radio.

Any updates on any of these issues? I just did an install on my 2013 Laramie from a Chrysler 200 without a single mod and everything works except the steering wheel and the seat heaters/AC. I'm really looking for some options here...AlfaOBD on standby..

View attachment 237428 View attachment 237429 Would anyone know why I’m getting the device not supported screen on every start up? Once I plug in my phone, CarPlay functions perfectly and continues to until I let the truck sleep for a couple of minutes. The other warning screen has come up a couple of times since I installed this radio a couple months ago, I don’t know the exact cause of it or what it means, but it usually comes up if I pull the fuse or restart the radio ECM with alphaOBD. My truck is 2017 and I got this radio at a steal locally and it came with the single usb and aux hub that worked fine but had the error screen. I updated to the 200C dual usb and aux hub to see if it would fix the issue, but it’s still there. My UAQ is part # 68331631AK. Any ideas?

I also don’t have the Sirius XM button anywhere on this radio. Is it supposed to be there or do you have to have a subscription for it to show up?

Embedded devices like these radios often have two storage partitions, primary and secondary (or backup) to hold the operating system (OS). During an update the primary partition is copied to the secondary partition and the update is written to the primary partition. The device contains a hardware watchdog the looks to make sure the primary partition booted properly. If it detects the primary partition did not boot correctly, it will boot from the secondary partition. This ensures the device always has at least one OS that will boot correctly.

The above radio looks like there is a failed update on the primary partition and the device has booted from the secondary partition. The "device not supported" message usually happens during an update when the USB drive does not contain an update that supports the radio. It can also happen if there is a glitch during the update process leaving the primary partition with an incomplete or corrupted OS. It seems like this radio has an incomplete or failed update and when a device is inserted into the USB port it is trying to read it for an update but fails since there is no update file on the USB drive.

The part number, 68331631AK, seems to indicates the radio is a UAQ from a 2020 1500 Classic truck. I would try performing the update process again with the firmware from this link https://www.ramforum.com/threads/in...ra3-vp3-na-ra4-vp4-na-uax.73871/#post-1125879. The post in that link has a link to the 22.6 firmware and a link to instructions for performing the update. Do take note of the caution to format the USB drive as FAT32 and make sure the update file is the only thing in the root directory of the USB drive.

It also looks like the event that triggered the log creation happened Feb 12, 2021 at 3:13PM and ended at 3:46PM. I would keep an eye on those errors to see if the number of files increases, date / time stamps change and try to correlate the timestamps with known activity. The file extensions ".tar.gz" indicate a compressed archive most likely of the log files that details what errors occurred. I don't know of any way to copy them from the radio to a USB for further analysis.

Great explanation, now it makes more sense to me. My radio is currently running version 30.4. Is there a way to downgrade to 22.6 without risk of bricking?

I’ve noticed that if I leave my radio on Bluetooth mode before shutting down the truck, the “Device not Supported” message does not come up on startup. As for the “Warning” message, I’m still trying to find the exact cause but it usually happens if the radio loses power or is it’s ECU is reset through AlphaOBD. I had pulled the batteries on my truck that day and took the picture on startup. Other than these annoyances, the radio functions perfectly and is a great upgrade from the stock 8.4.

I think that is one of those Jeep updates that someone found could be put on RAM radios. Not sure they can be downgraded but I thought there was something in that unofficial firmware thread about downgrading. There is a thread on the forum somewhere about the process. I would be extra careful about how you downgrade (freshly formatted UAB, fully charged battery, etc) since the radio may already have a corrupted primary partition so it is basically one "ooops" from being bricked if the downgrade does not go right and corrupts the backup partition.

The advice from folks like MPGrimm2, SKB and others way more knowledgeable than me was to stick with the official RAM firmware updates.

I did a little more testing on my radio hub and found that on the Chrysler 300 media hub, the aux input is recognized but not the usb. Same goes for my original 2016 Ram usb hub. I tested using two different apple lightning cables.

Im just unsure if its an issue with the radio, the wiring harness or the hubs.

What's your firmware level? I'm having the same issue on a UAQ I just installed which was manufactured in 2017.

You're on Application version 22.6

I'm not sure if that hardware PN reported but the radio is an actual ram UAQ PN for MOPAR PN 68331631Ax (can't recall exactly).

Edit: found this picture from another post of mine , post 2420 (caution about franken radios), for the new 2018 UAQ 68331631AH I bought from AllMoparParts previously in my last truck (before the v22.6 update) ...8e74863744db97bee8bb53abc6d5e1db.jpg

Gotcha, thanks for the heads up. My radio's MOPAR PN is 68331631AK, I purchased this UAQ from AllMoparParts.

Do you think my application version would have any bearing on my usb hub not working? I'm not sure if I'd have better luck with a usb hub from a compass or a ram instead of a 300C. I'm just surprised that the radio picks up no usb input at all but can pick up an aux input from the same hub

I thought I’d add mine too for comparison.
Part 68331631AJ. I’ve had absolutely no issues replacing my RA3 with this almost a year ago.

They must have updated the internal HW PN.

The aux is hardwired though the usb hub/power adapter harness (where did you get it? Deereguy's KaodTech site?).

Keep in mind, that there is a dedicated grey USB cable (mini USB) that has to be plugged in/seated fully at both the USB hub and radio. If all that is good, you either have a bad or incompatible USB HUB.
(I did see where someone claimed that Chrysler 200/300 hub will work, but it's not confirmed by anyone else yet)

Yes the adapter harness was from KaodTech. I also double checked the mini usb plug to ensure it was fully seated. It seems my best bet is to try with a different hub. Out of curiosity, should the UAQ radio still be able to pick up the usb input with my old usb hub (2016 ram) and simply not be able to run carplay? When I tested it, it was not able to, not sure if thats to be expected with a newer model year radio or if it indicates something may be wrong with my mini usb wiring harness

Just remembered... There is a dedicated usb hub fuse that needs checked... Can't remember which one off hand

Edit. Fuse f67

& The mini usb cable passes though a 2nd inline connector under the driver seat (, or front of the console) on the way back to the radio.

Thank you so much for this info. I'm going to take a look at the fuse box tomorrow. Hoping it's a quick fix, if not I'm going to go with a compass usb hub and see if I can get better luck

I gave a quick check to my fuse box and found fuse f67 is still good. I ordered a cherokee usb hub 5XG28DX9AD and I'm hoping that will be the fix I need, short of that not really sure what else could be the issue.
