Another option is to remove the Lin Bus CBC 3 signal going to the camera (Tailgate connector or BCM (C5/E-45).
It will lose the camera guide lines but camera will output video as long as the key is in the run position/powered up (if I understand what you're trying to do correctly).

See Post 911 of DIY BuCam Install thread.
(I never got around to testing the idea fully)

M² Mods.

I might try pulling the LIN bus connection going to the camera, to verify if it's actually the camera that drops out. The button turns on the camera in forward or parked it just goes blue once I get rolling too fast.
What would be the ideal option would be a way to intercept the speed part LIN signal. I don't need the active guidelines so if that all I lose, probably worth gaining being able to use the camera whenever.
Does anyone know if the same video drop out occurs with the cargo cam in a '15? If it doesn't I bet you could parallel the camera video feed to those inputs and use the cargo cam button instead.

This is definitely the setting to get the back up camera, both in the Control screen and in the app section. I changed my '15 yesterday and the third drive cycle today they both popped up. Now if there is a way to stop the camera from dropping out when you go over about 10 mph.View attachment 236770 View attachment 236771

thanks, still no app icons, i do have in them in the controls but no where else. all other settings are correct. ill give it another day and see what happens, since the only setting i had to change was the trailer hitch one (all others were already set correctly). Once i did the trailer hitch i then went from one cam button in controls to two separate, so had progress but not what i am ultimately after. I know about the timeout or mph restriction for the backup cam and cargo cams. From what i have gathered over the years only way to have on demand for as long as you want whenever you want is going with an aftermarket harness setup, but i like it stock unless i decide to go with the factory grille cam from a limited (hard to find).

If your not trying to resolve a problem or add a new feature then don't upgrade the firmware.
Mine does do some odd things like the bottom menu freezing up. I see that as a fix in some version of the firmware out there, but it doesn't indicate it is a specific fix for the RAM head units.

22.6 should address that issue. See the TSB for more info...View attachment tsb_wk2_0801619c.pdf

That's what I noticed too, except that specific item applies to "LA, LD and LX with UAQ and UAS radios". The RAM 1500 is a "DS" and I have a "UCS".

Would this still apply for me?
Fair enough...are you sure it's the bottom of the radio display or is the whole screen unresponsive?

It seems to be the bottom only - it has done this a couple of times. You can tap the menu item, it shows that you've tapped it (the icon changes), but it doesn't actually change the screen.

I almost exclusively use CarPlay so that's my only point of reference for when this happens. CarPlay is fully functional and can tap around, but tapping anything on the menu just shows the tap, but it doesn't change the screen.

Some new symptoms with my truck happened this weekend after some testing. I disabled the HSM and let the truck sleep for a bit. Restarted and the soft buttons for seat control were still present but seats and steering wheel did not heat based on ambient temperature. I re-enabled the HSM and let is sleep again this time the seat controls were present and greyed out but seats still did not heat and the ambient temp was 26 degrees. I went into the radio and disabled then re-enabled the heated seats on start and the seats came on. This told me the radio could see they were present. My question is, are the auto heated seats controlled by the BCM seeing ambient temp? If that was is the case I would think that the manual turning them on from the soft buttons would be an error between the radio and BCM? I have replaced the radio twice, the HSM with the latest revision and even tried the module from infotainment.com for 2014 trucks with no avail. Is there any way to update the firmware of the BCM with AlfaOBD?

The heated seats are turned on automatically if you have them selected to do so with remote start or all starts, for either way it is when the ambient temperature is 40°F or below.
The radio soft buttons are just a software data point to do the same action as the physical push button. The radio has no control over the seats, it just conveys the heated seat button and status. Think of it a switch in parallel to the physical one.

Hey all, I have every part for the swap on order except for the radio itself. Does anyone know of any reputable dealers that are selling UAQs? Also would purchasing a brand new radio have any impact on installation?

I saw one yesterday for $899. Not sure if the yard still has it. They can go fast and I wouldn't be surprised if "scalpers" monitor these forums for leads.

I'm the second owner of a UAQ that was bought from a parts department. Didn't sound like the previous owner had any problems and it was plug-n-play I'm my '15

New ones are about $1250. Contact RamForum vendor ' AllMoparParts ' by private message/conversation and they can get you a new one (Benny is usually the one to reply back). If it's in stock, you may get it quickly.

Curious, now that I upgraded my 2016 8.4 Uconnect to the 2018 with carplay, is my old radio worth anything? It is the NAV version if that makes much difference.

Yes, check out the classified section of the forum or eBay for current market price.

Completed my CarPlay set up on my 2017 RAM 1500, installed the radio a few days back, just needed to finish the USB port. The new port seems to slide out, I may have to glue it in place. Does anyone know how to wirelessly connect to CarPlay without a cord? I’ve heard of a dongle?

Nice setup. Im not sure about a wireless carplay dongle, from what Ive read some work but can be made to no longer work when there are iOS updates to carplay.

Hey all,

I have a quick question for the experts in here, I'm pretty confused with how all the model numbers work with changes made since 2018. I've been eyeing a UAS model number: 68332807aa or a UAQ model number: 68331631AK

Are both of those model numbers workable for this mod? The numbers have changed a bit since the original post in 2018 so I want to be sure I'll be good as long as I steer clear of the Delphie 5th gen radios.

The UAQ looks right, I don't know about that UAS part number though. Generally, I stay away from AA part numbers on complex parts.
