I almost find this one hard to believe, but bet they did too. I don't know much about Rovers. Maybe they have a sludging problem anyhow. I'll. Stick to my 5k intervals. Enjoy!

I also change at approximately 5-5500kms. Even doing that my first engine wiped a cam. Might as well give them the best chance to survive. I am doing oil analysis on this new one now.
I went through two cams before @Wild one was a bad inflewencd and convinced me to go with a non mds 6.4 challanger engine. :p

My Tahoe has a sludging problem, I guess that’s what happens when dexKILL gets into the engine oil @ 207,000 miles lol. She was chugging coolant until some ac delco coolant system sealant tablets got popped in and actually stoped it 100%

That video clearly states that they don't know what oil was or how the vehicle was driven. That could very well been bulk oil changes and driven by a soccer mom that sat an idled for hours on end.
A vehicle that is mostly highway driven using a premium full synthetic oil, anything short of 7500 miles on an oil change is a waste of money.

If my oil starts to turn black and stink I change it don't care what it costs.
You better never own a Cummins or you'll be changing the oil after every time you pull out of the driveway... LOL

I’m sticking with 5000 mile filter and oil change.
Yep, it's small money for big insurance against trouble. Not 100% guaranteed to prevent trouble, but it's worth it.

I'm on lots of car/truck forums and I see this oil change subject pop up regularly. The wide variety of opinions is always interesting reading, haha!

I traded my 2012 Ram 5.7 in, and picked up a 2025 3.6 it says 8,000 miles for the first oil change?
Plan on changing at 2,000 would that be to soon?

IMHO the first oil change done at 2000 miles is not too soon. Oil is cheap, engines are expensive. Even if it does nothing I get peace of mind. I own a 2018 with the 3.6 and change my oil every 4000 miles. No issues after 90k and I don’t sweat it if I go a little past the 4k interval. The 3.6 is super simple to do an oil change on.

I own a cummins. The OCD kinda stopped there because I'd need a small Refinery to keep up on oil changes if went by that plan :laughing1:i think last time it was over $200 to do an oc on her with synthetic 5w40. I keep my oil changes pretty regular with it as well seeing as I drive it pretty hard too. :Big Laugh:

+1 on this. Oil is cheap in comparison to an engine. You'll get a thousand different opinions on "when" and "what oil" if/when you ask those questions. Like @Atcer2018 said, the 3.6L Pentastar is easy to change oil on (if you're OCD like I am, you'll want to tuck a rag just below the filter housing to catch the drips when the filter is being pulled). I use SuperTech's Full Syn (for that guy about to flame me for that, don't waste your time, I don't care) every 3-4K. $19/5qt jug and 100ml of Liqui Moly added. I also installed a Fumoto drain valve to make it that much easier and cleaner to change. I'm at 95,*** miles currently.

No flames here. I use the SuperTech high mileage full synthetic. It’s a pretty solid oil for the daily driver.

I agree. Especially when I'm not trying to ring out 8k - 12k OCI's. I just recently started tossing in the 100ml LM during my oil changes. I did notice the engine seems quieter at startup and at warm idle. It's doing something. And in the off chance it's doing nothing, I'm not out much. I get it for basically "free" with my rewards points. I keep threatening to buy a decibel meter for projects/experiments like this. Wish I had a before and after decibel reading. It was significant enough that my old ears noticed the difference, even over the tinnitus. I mentioned the use of the LM somewhere else and a guy blasted me for "changing the oil's viscosity" and then went on to tell me that I'm going to plug my oil filter and blow up my engine. I tried to get him to understand that I'm not running STRAIGHT MOS2 instead of engine oil, I'm only adding 100ml to 5.5qt of oil. Some people, lol.

7500-10k miles is fine for any of these motors, it isn't 1990. 3k mile oil changes? I'd be changing my oil every 2.5 months.

Historically, I've always done 6,000 to 7,000KM OCI's (Canuck land..)..
Regardless using premium RL HP 5W30 and a 20-820 filter.

However... I'm pushing this OCI to 10,000KM's (about 6,300 miles) as I'm using HPL SC 0W30 and the 20-820 filter.

I, and many here want to see what 10,000km's on this oil and filter combo look like with a Blackstone report, including TBN & TAN.

The report will tell the tale of the tape (;

Oil is cheap, engines are expensive! When the oil on my 5.9 gets black I change it with new filter regardless of mileage. Saying a certain mileage and not looking at the condition of the oil is not going to get a good result in my opinion. I have worked on cars and trucks for almost 60 years.
