After I do the oil / filter change (3k interval because I don't drive it much and time expires before miles) with 5W30 Mobil 1, fill it to the fill line. I then add my 15 or 17 OZ (can't remember off hand) of LubeGaurd on top of that and call it Dutch.

Seems to work fine for me.

No dead horse in the history of mankind has been beat longer and harder than engine oil. A person could make a real clown of theirself going too deep on this.

Change the oil before it turns into forbidden cottage cheese, don't run your engine when you're not in the truck, don't sit in your truck eating drive thru with your engine running in the parking lot of the climate controlled restaurant you just ordered it from. Not a lot else you really can do and chances are pretty good that's all you need to do.
