It sucks you have all those issues. I can't say I shared the same fate with mine before I deleted it. You should probably sell it if you are having that much problems with it and the maintenance of it.

I'm wondering if it didn't sit on the lot for a while before I purchased it and condensation formed in the def tank. Most of the codes I've had turn up are P20EE and after the first 3 times I topped off the DEF. I also have seen 2x a code about using too much def or something like that, I forget the code. 1x I had service DEF system pop up on the display after topping off. Def out of spec. I called the nearest dealer and told him the code and that I had just topped off. He told me to clear it and see if it comes back. If I took it in he would test it, it would come back out of range and then I'd have to pay for the drain and replacement ~$400. Said when filling the def they often see it will stir up the contents and throw an out of range code.

That was last fall. I ran it almost empty and I have filled it since and didn't get a code. Fingers crossed.

My poor buddy with is duramax has had his in the shop 3x. Replaced a sensor, replaced the DPF, and now the cat. 8600 miles.

Ok prove it, oh wait you can't.. ......

Actually yes I can. If you look at the video's of both, the GM couldn't get past 60 mph at even at the start of the climb which is the easiest part and stayed about 50 mph the rest of the way. The Ram easily got to almost 70 mph and stayed there until the first steep part where it dropped down to about 55 mph which is still faster than what the GM was doing up to that point. At that point the transmission went into limp mode keeping it in 2nd gear at 30 mph. Up until the limp mode, the Ram was running at a much faster speed than the GM so their is no doubts that if the Ram didn't go into 2nd gear limp mode then it would have beat the GM truck up the hill. Go look at both videos and see for yourself.

First time was from jugs at a truck stop. Second time was from the pumps at truck stop. Last 2 or 3x from jugs from my favorite parts house.

I used the jugs a few times, but stopped after talking with one our vendors that we purchase DEF from to resale. They usually store it in the a warehouse which could be very hot depending on the time of year. The pallets then get transported across country on a hot van truck to our store. We then put them in another hot warehouse to store them until they can be put on the floor for sale. This is common practice at most places that sale DEF, and many do not know that DEF degrades rapidly in hot temperatures.

I switched to the pump after that. Not only was it fresh, but it stayed cooler being stored under ground and it was more than half the price too. Not sure if that was one of the reasons why I never got a code.

Unfortunately the nearest DEF at the pumps is 55 miles away

Tranny issue reminds me of my ecoboost and the overheating issue.. It never happened to me, but for some owners on some climbs in certain scenarios, the temp would rise..I never had my truck in the scenarios that would make it happen, but it did happen to others towing a good load. Likewise, with my little 6000-6500 pound trailer I dont forsee being in circumstances where the tranny should be much of an issue.. Im also probably 85% of the time, below 2,000 feet in elevation.. and at the most extreme, about 3,700 feet in elevation.

I never heard of the transmission issue when I had my Ecoboost F150 and was apart of the forums. There were many that were concerned about the trans temps in the forums because they were high compared to older transmissions, but the temps were in normal specs. I did, however, hear about the engine EGT's getting hot from being in too low of a gear and rpm with a high load for extended periods of time. From the owners that said it happen to them, the engine got derated for a short period of time.

Texan, yea thats what I was referring too..Not a tranny issue on the ecoboost 150.. Just a similar circumstance where some people experienced a problem, that to them was more of annoyance than it was to the rest of us, because we didn't have our trucks in those scenarios that made it happen.

The wheel end dyno results are in. Ford put down slighlty more horsepower to the wheels than the Ram. This is odd since the 6.4L is rated at 25 more hp than the Ford 6.2L. Ram did put down the most torque which is again odd since the Ford is rated higher by 1 lb-ft.

2017 3/4-Ton Work Truck Challenge: Dynamometer Testing

HP
Ford: 344 hp
Ram: 340 hp
Nissan: 332 hp
GM: 276 hp

Torque
Ram: 372 lb-ft
Ford: 370 lb-ft
Nissan:351 lb-ft
GM: 311 lb-ft

Interesting, wish they would have posted dyno charts for each.

Better gearing and power-weight. The new transmission is supposed to be more efficient than the 140

Odd part is, the Ram was the lightest truck.

Did I miss it or did they not put gearing information in the article? If they were geared as close to identically as possible, I guess we've got ourselves a race. If the Ford was running 4.30s and the Ram 3.73s, the Ford is substantially less impressive.

Edit: I'd like to see dyno charts from the engines as well.
