Shocks only control dampening and rebound of the springs so swapping them won't do much for what you are looking for unless yours are completely worn out. You have a HD truck with HD springs and it is going to ride rough. There are softer aftermarket lifted springs available but you are going to lose load capacity and it's not cheap.

Maybe try throwing some weight in the bed, that might help.

If you really want the best of both worlds (soft ride and load capacity) look into a Kelderman replacement air suspension kit. And, unless your brother's truck has some modification it rides the same or worse than your truck. I found the Ram 2500 to have the best ride of the big 3 due to coil springs vs. leaf springs. As mtnrider said, it's an HD truck. You just can't have a soft ride and HD capacity. The laws of physics say so.

What size rims do you have? I found that the 17 and 18 inch wheels with taller sidewall tires ride much better than the 20's and short sidewall tires.

Have the same around town, ****** streets bumpy ride in our 2018 2500 CC. I knew that when we went from the 07 1500 Mega Cab to the 2500, we would notice the ride trade off. We have 17x8 wheels withe Firestone high wall tires. I run the pressure at 50 front and 60 when "not towing" It helps. When I get to about 10-15,000 miles I will replace the shocks with Bilstein. Will replace the tires when needed with Goodrich or Michelin. Firestone rubber is hard, but they get the miles. As said,,,it is a HD truck.
