What exactly is happening when you try to shift into 4wd? Any cel? Any codes if you plug in a scanner. Do you know when it stopped working?

There are no dash lights that light up. I know it has a ‘4x4 serv ‘ light but that doesn’t even warn me. Just on for few seconds when start up. Absolutely nothing happens when shifting knob. Does not seem to hear any shifting sounds, least not from in the cab. I think this past fall it was still working. Then my parents needed a vehicle so I let them borrow it for a month or so. (I have 2 trucks)They live in the country and been snowy and wet. Maybe it was one of them that did not use it right and cause it to stop going in 4.
Now I gotta figure it out.

I would try and see if you can check the servo on the transfer case to see if it gets power to shift into 4wd. If not then work back and I would check the 4wd shifter to make sure it has the right power.

Man, I got the same problem on my 2011; no lights at all, no service light either. The 4x4 sometimes works but not when I really need it to work. Tonight I got under and unplugged the wire going to the transfer case actuator and sprayed the plug and receptacle with contact cleaner and the 4WD Auto worked a couple of times but then it quit. How can you tell if its the actual Actuator that is bad?

If you have the auto 4wd transfer case it has clutches. Change the fluid in the transfer case.

Oh I forgot to mention on here earlier when I found out the reason why my 4x4 wasn’t working. The passenger side cv axle was missing. Lol. I dont know how my old folks manage to do that and not notice anything. But have new axles, gonna put ‘em’ when I have time.
