I'm running champion platinum power plugs in both my 4.0 jeep & my 5.9 ram which i normally change every 30k miles. Hear lately I've been hearing alot bout E3 plug & was thinking bout maybe trying them out. Any info would be great.

thanks

Not a lot of people like running e3s or any rare earth plug for that matter. These trucks seem to respond better to old copper cores and cooler plugs in general.

You change platinum plugs every 30k? Damn, that seems a little over kill. Isnt the platinum suposed to be good for 100k?

I've always run plain ole copper plugs and never had a problem. I change them every year in the fall which is probably overkill, but they're cheap and easy enough to replace I don't mind (plus #8 especially has a fouling problem. Damn leaky intake...).

Right now, I'm running Autolite 3923, which is a one step cooler plug from OEM recommendation. Helped a lot with my pinging issues.

Don't buy in to the hype, lawn mowers and Chrysler are all that use champions, and that's all you should use. AC Delco in gms, autolite/motorcraft for Ford's and NGK in everything Japanese. Plain and simple. Also, don't listen to the parts store morons, they try to sell people Bosch+4 for everything. I told them I needed a champion RC12YC for my 67 belvedere, they brought me out the Bosch equivalent because it cross referenced and the Bosch would be better... Right.

I hated the champions in my 00.. Ran like **** and only got 6 mpg.. Ran em for about 3 weeks.. Tried running different octane fuel, fuel cleaners, triple checked the gaps on all plugs.. Eventually gave em away and put the worn out bosch back in until i picked up a set of auto lites.. So much better in my experience.

I suggest the Bosch's or Champions. No rare earth metals. Some trucks like champions. Some, like mine, like the Bosch's. Possibly could be my upgraded ignition bits. I like Bosch parts anyways.
You shouldn't have any issues with Champions. Just double check the gap. Mine is .035 I believe. I think factory is .035 or .040

E3 is garbage.

Run anything else but them. See what the truck likes, I'm not even kidding. Once you find a set that it likes, stick to them.

My stock Champions are okay, but I'm probably going to be buying some NGK V-powers this spring to swap in.

You didnt say tune up you said you changed the platinum plugs every 30k. Doesnt matter, everyones different. If your changing plugs at 30k just buy cheap coppers, whatever flavor you choose. I like the champs gapped at .045.

E3's at $10 per plug is a solution looking for a problem.
