Guys I fought this issue for almost a year and a half. Like most of you I did a quick google search and was terrified by the numerous outcomes. No way was I paying someone over 1K to replace the entire assembly. I took the easy way out last summer and bought a Chinese knock off actuator from Amazon and slapped it on (Under $100). Then I paid a local shop $200 to program it to the pcm (not sure that was even necessary or the guy just stole my money). The problem with me was I usually only drive on the weekends. I have an onboard programmer that I can read and delete DTC’s with so whenever it would pop up I would check the code realize it was the same thing then delete it. That got old real quick, but I was left wondering which direction to go. Honestly I probably would have just kept clearing my code if I were able to use my remote start function. It really ticked me off every time I wanted to start it on a 100 plus degree day and I couldn’t do it. Tonight I had enough of it though. Did another search found this forum and decided I was going to put an end to this nonsense.

I found the post with the wiring diagram (I’m an elevator mechanic by trade so it was pretty straight forward), big thanks to whoever posted that. I went into my garage took everything apart; put my meter on it and boom. Start feverishly tearing into the wiring loom and found all 3 wires corroded within 16 inches of the plug. So I threw on some quick connect splices just to test it out and what do ya know perfect function every time no more CEL!

I say all that to say this. This post helped me troubleshoot this thing and I had it all said and done in probably under 30 minutes. If I would have found this a year ago I could have saved myself $300. Ha.

Seems like the wiring is a major issue. I would start there before you guys went spending money. All you need is a 13,10,8 mm socket and a meter and you’re in business.

Hope this helps.
