So ive been looking and looking on this site and still have not found the answer, so can someone please help.

2015 ED tradesman with the quad lights, I ended up putting a HID system on the truck with a relay harness from the retrofit source with the decoders works fine. Now I upgraded my tradesman cluster to a normal one with the screen and i have low beam bulb out. The code i found on the Alfaobd unit is b162e RIGHT LOW BEAM CONTROL. is there a setting to turn this issue off. I am lost and been at it for a 3 hours

I'd just try putting in the hid/led option again, also with Alfa u don't need the retrofit harness it will work just plugging ig in when hid/led is selected so it may be reading its out already if you changed that option already due to the added resistors.

The canbus system monitors voltage, if you already have hid/led selected instead of halogen the bcm is now reading a much lower voltage than the factory lights so the way my brain is working with this, not saying it's right but if you selected it the canbus is now reading the retrofit harness resistors as well as the led, I think that it will then see either too much voltage is going to the resistor or too little is coming out setting off the light. Like I said it's all theory but worth a shot....

Another thing to note that the premium clusters tend to show faults easier than the base cluster.

I was stuck with the same issue ... what I did was just set the HID setting to set and left everything else the same ... that worked

when you say hid setting to set please explain more or can you let me know which of the hid settings to turn on.

so how does one turn that off?

It's not something that can be turned off. I've heard people say that their is a canbus A and B system. Canbus A which is apparently is what the premium cluster runs on is more sensitive. Only way around it is either using canbus compatible led's /and adapters or alphaobd and sometimes both.

What comes up for a message when u turn it on? Sport/Laramie or whatever? U may be able to change the package selection for that style truck it came out of instead of the one u have now. Tht could be the issue..

If you haven't already (I believe someone has recommended already) disconnect the relay harness/canbus for the hid kit. Just plug the headlight housing bulb plug into the ballast. In alphaobd I believe it's in vehicle config 3 you'll see a setting for hid's. You'll want to enable that. That should get rid of your light out message. If not for $40 a bunch of people including myself are running innovative hid's (off Amazon) with no canbus or relay harnesses with simply changing that setting.

In VehicleConfig 3, select high intensity discharge headlamps, and change it to yes. Remove the relay harness and whatever other gadgets from your HID kit so all you have plugged in is the bulbs and ballasts. Then clear the body faults, and you’re set.
