just opened the box, everything looked fine.

PROBLEM: no shims

Call BAKflip and the guys says RAM (2011) doesnt need them, box is square. I tell him the chart in the box says it does. He checks, then tells me shims are preinstalled on rail. I check, they are not. He says look close. Nope, still not there. He says (he was a nice and helpful guy) to go ahead and put it in without shims and itll work, but - he is mailing me shims anyway

SOOOOO... for those of you with backflip on fourth gen, did yours have shims, did you use them, did it work with or without, etc?

Thanks. I just want to put it on. Im 37, but with new stuff, im 10. Cant. Help. Myself.

I have a G2 Bakflip but where do shims go? I don't remember putting any on. It took me longer to get it out of the box than put it on lol

it claims they go outside of where the clamps will fasten. i guess it gives a little push inward, and according to my scholarly research via the internet over the last hour, may participate in weather proofing to some degree. hell, i dont know. i just want the damn thing to work and be on there.

I have a bed liner so I don't think I used any. I can take some pics of mine tomorrow if you'd like?

you don't need the shims.

The shims they send are literally a 1" wide strip of ABS plastic

glad it worked.....on the 3rd gens the shims were needed because the rail where the clamp went was not flat - it had an offset. I haven't looking but i'm guessing it is flat on the 4th gens.

I didn't use shims on mine and I think that's why I had trouble with it shutting on the spoiler. I ended up changing out to a regular tailgate cap tho, and now it shuts fine.
