Hi I'm trying to figure out what to do with my stereo. I was surprised and annoyed when I read how the dash speakers are wired. Is anyone able to link to a 4ohm resistor to add to the dash speakers?

I was wondering if it's possible to install the alpine amp and if it's much of an upgrade to the base system. Not sure how much extra power it has over stock, but it also has a sub channel. There is an alpine amp and sub for sale locally at the moment. I figured that would be a half ass way to better sound.

Thanks!

First post as well, happy to be here I just got a ram and love it!

Wiring is different in an alpine equipped truck/not in your stock 6 spkr truck to support it. (Not impossible to do, but not practical either).

PAC makes an AmpPro or RadioPro interface/line out setup that maintains proper impedance on the speaker outputs so the radio doesn't shut it off (ie for an aftermarket amp setup).

Welcome to the Forum.

As for your current audio set up...

Very little gained going to the factory Alpine amp & sub.

If you want better sound and thump, start be replacing the stock six speakers, and even with the factory head unit, you'll get much better sound quality and a bit more volume.

Then, if you want the next level, look at an aftermarket head unit with the iData Maestro CanBus interface module to integrate it seamlessly into your truck.

This will step up the sound quality again, and provide cleaner and higher volume.

Then, add in a sub or two with an amp, and you'll really be enjoying your music on that new level.

If you're going to take audio up to new levels, consider also upgrading to an H8 AGM battery and installing several quality thick copper grounds throughout your truck, and perhaps also a digital capacitor, too as these upgrades will help your electrical system cope with the power draw of an upgraded audio system.
